Responsibilities Provide administration of complex bridge, roadway and highway construction projects Oversee and ensure Contract Administration deliverables are completed in accordance with client requirements Lead, coordinate and monitor onsite inspection duties and tasks are completed, and inspector’s diaries are kept up to date and accurate Promote and oversee implementation of health and safety policies and procedures Maintain detailed daily diary of the contractor’s work, instructions provided, and overall issue and change management Review contractor activities are in accordance with the contract documents and requirements Provide oversight and confirmation of completed contract quantities are accurately calculated for processing progress and final payments Review, interpret, and analyze the Contractor’s initial critical path schedule to determine conformance to the contract, and provide regular review and analysis of monthly critical path schedules Supervise and perform quality assurance acceptance and inspection of construction works Coordinate specialty inspection and testing Liaise with the contractor and client representatives Chair and lead project meetings Provide interpretation and recommendation of contractor submittals Negotiate price agreements, change orders, claims and work directives Travel to projects across the province for extended periods of time Other duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications A minimum of 10 years of experience in administering and inspecting road and highway construction projects Taken and passed the MTO T131 – Advanced Claims – Dispute Resolution training Experience administering municipal or highway construction projects Demonstrated experience as a Construction Contract Administrator on 2 or more Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) or municipal road projects with construction values of $5.0 Million or more Proven analytical, communication, and negotiation skills Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Laws and Regulations (Environmental, Health and Safety, etc.) and their application in construction contracts Ability to interpret critical path schedules Experience working with MS Project or Primavera (P6) would be considered a strong asset Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work Ability to analyze and solve problems Demonstrated leadership abilities Valid Ontario driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle Required Qualifications 7 years contract-related experience; advanced degree or contract certification program may substitute for years of experience Working to expert knowledge of contracting concepts and company and client requirements Professional, self-motivated, well-organized and detail-oriented with the flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently and meet deadlines, with minimal management oversight Proficient with Microsoft Office software, including complex MS Excel spreadsheets with formulas Excellent writing and people skills Strong math, analytical and organizational skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We Believe HDR is our company.
