About the Role Reporting to the Vice‑President, Engineering and Construction, the Commissioning Manager / IST Lead will play a key role in bridging the gap between build and operations, lead the validation of complex MEP environments, and ensure total system resilience — from individual component verification through to complex failure‑scenario simulations. Responsibilities Manage commissioning levels 1‑4: develop and maintain the commissioning master plan covering Factory Witness Testing (Level 1) through Functional Performance Testing (Level 4). Review shop drawings, submittals and MEP designs to ensure testability and alignment with operational standards. Lead third‑party commissioning agents and equipment vendors to complete pre‑functional checklists and startup reports. Plan and lead Level 5 Integrated Systems Tests (IST), simulating failure scenarios such as utility power loss, generator failure and chiller plant failure to validate system redundancy and autonomous response. Review and approve detailed IST scripts to ensure they reflect real‑world failure modes and safety protocols. Identify potential points of failure during testing and coordinate with design engineers for immediate fixes. Serve as the primary bridge between the construction team and operations team to ensure a seamless transition of the facility. Oversee technical training of operations staff on new equipment and emergency procedures during the closeout process. Facilitate post‑commissioning reviews to capture lessons learned and update the Basis of Design for future projects. Experience 5+ years of full‑cycle project engineering experience, including component design, technical troubleshooting and industrial implementation of advanced technology solutions. Extensive experience in data center projects. Education / Certification / Designation Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or a related field) with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Project Management certification is an advantage. Key Skills Excellent written and verbal communication. Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and process‑driven. Proven ability to lead transition from construction to operations, ensuring defect‑free handover and fully trained teams. Technical Knowledge Familiarity with data center construction and infrastructure projects. Advanced knowledge of building systems and industry standards. Expertise with MV/LV switchgear, UPS systems, generator synchronization and relay coordination/breaker settings. Deep understanding of chilled water plants, DX/CRAH units and psychrometrics of data center cooling. Proficiency in auditing BMS/EPMS and translating complex Sequences of Operations into PLC logic. Experience staging resistive/reactive load banks and using infrared thermography/data trending to detect latent system defects. Skill in auditing MEP designs for practical testing requirements and drafting/approving IST failure scripts. Working Conditions Regular business hours, Monday‑Friday, with tight deadline management.
