About Us The Office of Indigenous Initiatives is responsible for championing and/or supporting through advice and counsel Indigenous initiatives across a broad range of areas including student affairs, academic programs, workforce planning, space planning, policy and implementation, and training and development, etc. Through collaborative and community‑engaged processes, the Office will facilitate partnerships that increase Indigenous voices and presence across all levels of work, study and research at Western. Office of Indigenous Initiatives Priority Areas Indigenous community engagement and advisories Indigenous space planning and management Indigenous access and recruitment strategies Indigenous curriculum and training development Indigenous faculty and staff recruitment and retention strategy Position Overview Reporting to the Director of Indigenous Engagement at Western University, the Web Projects Coordinator will support the successful implementation of a new institutional website template by coordinating the transition of existing websites. This includes rebuilding webpages, collecting and refining content, and working closely with stakeholders within the OII. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with experience in digital content, website structure, and accessibility standards. This temporary, full‑time position plays a key role in enhancing the Indigenous Initiatives web presence and ensuring consistent, high‑quality user experience across all related web properties. The role is expected to be filled by reappointment. Website Rebuild & Migration Rebuild webpages in the new website template using the designated content management system (CMS) Review and update existing content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with current priorities Ensure all content adheres to web accessibility standards (AODA/WCAG) and usability principles Coordinate the migration of web content from outdated pages and websites to the new template structure Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure all links, images, and embedded elements are functional and correctly formatted Maintain consistency with the Western brand guidelines, tone, and digital style Content Coordination Collaborate with internal departments and stakeholders to gather content and source missing information Advise stakeholders on best practices for structuring and presenting web content Support content optimization for search engines (SEO) and overall readability Track progress of content migration tasks and contribute to project reporting and workflow documentation Digital Communications & Strategy Support Participate in regular team meetings to align priorities and resolve content or technical challenges Provide recommendations on content structure, site architecture, or layout improvements during the rebuild Contribute to the continuous improvement of web content strategy, based on user experience and analytics insights Stay current with digital communications trends, particularly in accessibility, design, and user engagement Qualifications Education Post‑secondary education in communications, digital media, web development, or a related field Experience 1–3 years of experience working with websites, digital content, or CMS platforms (Drupal, WordPress, etc.) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to rebuild pages in CMS, troubleshoot formatting issues, and conduct quality assurance checks Excellent written communication and editorial skills with a strong attention to detail Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment Creative problem‑solving skills and sound professional judgment Equity & Inclusion Statement Western University is committed to employment equity and diversity in the workplace and encourages applications from all qualified individuals, including women, visible minorities, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, and persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity.
