Jean Tweed is a leading, community-based organization that provides a supportive environment for women with substance use, mental health, and gambling concerns. Recognizing the diversity of women's experience in today's society, our programs seek to address a range of issues in a woman's life that may contribute to substance use and gambling concerns.The continuing care and trauma programs provide therapeutic support to women who struggle with substance use and/or problem gambling and have experienced some type of trauma in their lives. The programs provide individual and group counselling for women using a range of supportive counselling and therapeutic techniques including psychotherapy and education. The role also involves liaising with other professionals to create treatment plans for a broad range of substance use issues. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Clinical and Outpatient Services.Full‑time, contract (June 2026 – January 2027)This is a hybrid role, with 4 days on‑site and 1 day remote.Rate of pay: $34.10 – $39.89 (37.5 hours / week).How will you help to get us there?Provide a variety of clinical assessments to meet the needs of women with substance use, mental health concerns and/or family‑related challenges.Develop and implement a therapeutic relationship to address factors contributing to substance use, trauma and/or family‑related challenges.Provide trauma‑specific counselling services and psychotherapy to individuals and groups for substance use and related concerns as required.Provide individual/group counselling.Support clients to express their needs, examine their emotional responses and assist problem‑solving through counselling/therapeutic techniques.Provide referrals for supporting care and follow‑up with institutions to promote seamless integrated care.Identify and build linkages with agencies and other supporting organisations and social service systems in the area to promote consistent and effective intervention for clients.Engage in capacity building within agencies and across the mental health and substance use sector in the GTA for trauma‑informed care.Identify and make accessible a variety of supports including housing, financial aid, family support, crisis intervention/prevention/support and advocacy for women in need.RequirementsMaster's Degree in Social Work or equivalent.Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and licensed to conduct the controlled act of psychotherapy. Seasoned practitioners who are in the process of being licensed to conduct the controlled act of psychotherapy will also be considered.3 years of experience working with trauma, mental health, and substance use.Working knowledge of trauma‑informed practice, women‑centred principles and best practices for working with women and substance use and/or gambling.Experience in capacity building and the provision of training and consultation.Excellent clinical skills including individual and group, brief and long‑term counselling, trauma‑informed practice.Knowledge of community resources and supports in the Toronto area.Ability to prepare and present information in both formal and informal settings.First‑Aid/CPR certification.The Jean Tweed Centre recognises and values the rich diversity of Canadian society and specifically the women, children and families we serve.
