Job Description We are seeking a highly organized, client‑focused Events & Conference Manager to lead the planning, coordination and execution of meetings, conferences and special events at our 4‑star luxury hotel in Vancouver. This role is responsible for delivering seamless, high‑quality experiences that reflect the hotel’s brand standards while maximizing revenue and guest satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Event Planning, Coordination & Execution Manage all aspects of event coordination from initial inquiry through post‑event follow‑up Manage group room blocks with the client and monitor pick‑up with Housing Bureaus Plan and execute corporate meetings, conferences, weddings and social events Conduct site inspections and client consultations to understand event requirements Prepare detailed event orders and ensure accurate communication with all departments Work closely with the Director of Catering and the Coordinators Client Relationship Management Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the planning process Build strong relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals Handle client feedback professionally and resolve any issues promptly Operations Coordination Collaborate with other hotel departments and external vendors including Food & Beverage, Banquets, Front Office and AV to ensure smooth event execution Oversee event setup, execution and breakdown to ensure quality standards Ensure compliance with health, safety and licensing regulations Work closely with Sales Team to achieve revenue targets for meetings and events Monitor budgets, control costs and maximise profitability Support banquet and event staff during functions Train team members on service standards and event procedures Foster a collaborative and high‑performance team environment Requirements Education and Experience 2–5+ years of experience in event or conference management, preferably in a luxury hotel environment Diploma or degree in Hospitality, Event Management or related field is preferred Relevant certifications in sales or hospitality management are an asset Proven track record of achieving targets and driving revenue growth Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required Skills and Competencies Strong leadership, negotiation and communication skills In‑depth knowledge of the hotel industry Ability to analyse data to make strategic decisions Strong organisational and multitasking skills with attention to detail Excellent interpersonal and relationship‑building abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Opera Cloud software Occasional travel may be required to meet clients or attend industry events Flexibility for early mornings, evenings or weekend work, particularly for client meetings or events Perks Rewards & Recognition Group Life Insurance, Extended Health, Dental, Vision Care RRSP Matching Discounted Hotel Stays for Team Members and Family & Friends 25% discount at our restaurants for up to 6 people Discounted Passes / Lift tickets at Grouse Mountain and Revelstoke Mountain Resort Ongoing Employee events Growth Opportunities – Career Advancement starts from within Dedicated Training Program Employee Assistance Program (EAP Counselling) Referral Program – Refer a friend or family and earn money Complimentary Stays Milestone Rewards Tuition Credit Program The Sutton Place Hotel is an equal opportunity employer committed to hiring a diverse workforce and sustaining an inclusive culture.
