Overview WAGO Canada, Inc. is seeking a Field Application Specialist (FAS). The role involves performing various customer service functions, providing technical support, marketing support, and sales support for WAGO Advanced Automation products. The FAS must be a professional engineer capable of action, with a strong sense of purpose, and must drive a balanced approach to assure sustainable and profitable growth in the region. Qualifications Experienced required: BSEE or higher, plus experience in sales and marketing of advanced electronic devices defined as PLC, PC control systems, factory and machine control systems, with a good understanding of automation software. Supply engineering support for the WAGO Automation System by ensuring that other control system component suppliers understand the proper application of WAGO products. Support and training of distributor application engineers, distributor sales personnel, system integrators, customers, prospects, and WAGO employees. Perform support and training that enables efficient application of WAGO Automation and Electronic products. Present training programs as directed. Assist in preparation and presentation of technical training meetings to be scheduled as needed. Provide technical applications support to customers, distributors, system integrators, and WAGO Regional Sales Managers and General Manager. Marketing Program Support Provide technical sales support at trade shows and conferences. Participate in technical organizations to keep WAGO up-to-date on industry developments (e.g., PTO, ODVA). Assist in implementation of marketing programs, promotional activities and other sales‑related activities as directed. Market Analysis Consider target industries for WAGO’s I/O products and make recommendations with market and opportunity rationale. Maintain knowledge and report on competition and market trends. Work with Sales and Marketing to develop and maintain a competitive matrix. Collect and retain incoming enhancement requests in a structured manner. Sales Support Participate in selling situations, including sales calls, shows and events, to describe and demonstrate WAGO products as directed. Additional Responsibilities Must be able to travel via airplane. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate an automobile for up to six hours at a time. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs (sample, demos, literature). Must be able to travel overnight 0-30% as dictated by assigned territory. Travel to corporate headquarters and areas outside of territory will also be required on a periodic basis.
