A Brief Overview The Material Planner is responsible for accurately forecasting material needs and collaborating with suppliers, overseeing inventory levels, and adjusting production schedules to optimize resources effectively. Orders and/or releases materials consistent with JDE, MRP, and Supply and Demand. Strives to maintain company inventory goals. What you will do Develop new suppliers for plant‑controlled items through cooperation with Corporate Procurement. Communicate and resolve quality issues with suppliers and obtain credits as applicable. Maintain accurate, updated price files for current supplier(s) and alternates. Purchase MRO. Provide accurate and timely information regarding material deliveries to the scheduling department. Monitor A/P late payments and resolve credit hold issues. Utilize accurate pricing and program knowledge to make intelligent and timely purchase/inventory decisions. Bring the right material in the right quantity at the right time. Combine purchase order quantities for the best price when feasible and consistent with good purchasing/inventory control procedures. Resolve all purchase order price variances in a timely manner. Closely monitor inventory levels during program phase‑outs to minimize the cost of obsolete material. Some duties may vary slightly by location. Education Qualifications High School (Preferred) Associate's Degree (Preferred) Significant experience required in discipline (Preferred) Experience Qualifications 1‑3 years in packaging and chemicals (Preferred) 1‑3 years experience utilizing JD Edwards is a plus (Preferred) 1‑3 years must be proficient using MS Office with emphasis on MS Excel (Preferred) 1‑3 years must have effective verbal and written communication skills (Preferred) Skills and Abilities Knowledge of purchase order systems, accounts payable processes, and resolving credit hold issues or payment discrepancies (Medium proficiency) Understanding of purchasing, inventory control, and procurement practices, including pricing strategies and cost‑saving measures (Medium proficiency) Ability to manage multiple suppliers, maintain accurate price files, and ensure inventory levels are optimal without overstocking or obsolescence (Medium proficiency) Ability to make quick and accurate purchasing decisions to ensure the right material is available at the right time in the right quantities (Medium proficiency) Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms (Medium proficiency) Ability to adapt purchasing strategies in response to changing supply demands, inventory needs, or supplier issues (Medium proficiency) Ability to closely monitor inventory levels and adjust purchasing plans accordingly, minimizing obsolete materials (Medium proficiency) Licenses and Certifications Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) – APICS (Preferred) To Staffing and Recruiting Agencies: Our company does not accept unsolicited curriculum vitae’s or applications from agencies.
