Overview Thompson Construction Group has an immediate opening for a Senior Financial Analyst at our Spruce Grove office reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting. The Senior Financial Analyst provides strategic financial planning, reporting, and decision support across the organization. This role partners closely with Operations and Finance leadership to drive operational performance, ensure accurate financial reporting, and provide insights that influence business strategy. The position requires strong analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to communicate complex financial information to senior leadership effectively. Responsibilities Financial Analysis and Reporting: Analyze monthly financial results against budget and forecast, identifying key variances, trends, and actionable insights Prepare and present monthly financial reporting packages to senior management Develop ad hoc reports, dashboards, and analytical tools to evaluate customer profitability, margin opportunities, and operational performance Prepare month-end working papers and financial statements with variance analysis Operational Partnership: Partner with Operations Managers to provide financial expertise, answer questions, and support operational decision-making Collaborate with Operations Managers to complete capital requests, budgets, and forecasts Maintain and update monthly rolling forecasts to support ongoing business planning Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead annual budgeting and forecasting cycles, critically reviewing assumptions and ensuring accuracy across business units Prepare monthly forecasting Assist with weekly cash forecasting Continuous Improvement and Insights: Integrate and analyze data from multiple sources to provide actionable insights and recommendations that enhance business performance Identify opportunities to streamline reporting, enhance dashboards, and automate analytical processes Prepare reports and presentations to assist management in decision-making and performance measurement Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting CPA designation or near completion Minimum of 5 years of financial analysis experience, ideally supporting senior leadership Strong understanding of three statement financial models and capital budgeting Experience with ERP systems, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, advanced presentation skills Knowledge of ASPE and/or IFRS standards Key Competencies Highly analytical and detail-oriented with strong business acumen Ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights clearly to stakeholders Strong collaborative skills and ability to work cross-functionally Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently High degree of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive financial information Proactive problem-solving with an emphasis on continuous improvement Benefits (Full-Time Salary) Competitive Salaries Group Health Insurance Plan (Extended Medical and Dental) Registered Retirement Savings Plan (Employer Matching) Life Insurance and LTD Group Insurance Discretionary Bonuses Growth Opportunities #J-18808-Ljbffr
