Edgewater Industrial employs Pipefitters, Electricians, Pressure Welders and Gas Fitters.Location: Northern OntarioProject: Industrial Refinery Project SiteJob Type: Full-Time / Project AssignmentWork Schedule/Shift Rotation: 14/7 rotationHours per Day: 10 hours per day (7:00 am to 5:30 pm - 1/2 hour unpaid lunch)Travel/Accommodations/Meals: ProvidedPosition Summary The Piping Superintendent is responsible for directing and supervising all piping construction activities, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, codes, and quality standards. This role requires strong experience with chemical process piping, corrosive services, cleanliness controls, and coordination within a hydrometallurgical processing environment.Scope of Work Installation of with New Processing Equipment and Systems:Shop Fabrication of Piping Spools: Shop fabricationRe-Enforced Fibreglass: Equipment installation and lamination of splice jointsPiping Installation: Various piping systemsMechanical: Installation of mechanical equipment and pumpsMiscellaneous Small Installations: Additional scopeKey Responsibilities Piping Construction and Execution:Plan, coordinate, and supervise all piping installation activities, including:Stainless steel, alloy, lined, and specialty chemical service pipingAcid, slurry, reagent, and process solution piping systemsUnderground and aboveground piping networksPipe racks, supports, valves, and specialty equipment connectionsCPVC, Carbon Steel (threaded, grooved and welded) and stainless steel weldedTesting and turn over of piping systemsEnsure installation complies with:IFC drawings, piping isometrics, P&IDs, and specificationsProject-specific cleanliness and contamination control requirementsApplicable codes and standards (ASME, CSA, API, project specs)Coordinate fabrication, installation, and tie-in sequencing to support construction and commissioning milestonesResolve field design and constructability issues in collaboration with engineering and project managementSafety and Environmental LeadershipPromote and enforce a strong safety culture in a chemical processing environmentEnsure compliance with:Site safety programs and permitsChemical handling, acid service, and corrosive materials proceduresEnvironmental protection and spill prevention requirementsLead daily toolbox talks and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementationScheduling and Coordination Coordinate piping activities with:Mechanical installation (tanks, reactors, filters, pumps)Structural steel and pipe rack installationElectrical and instrumentation teamsSubcontractors and vendorsSupport short-interval planning and schedule trackingIdentify manpower, material, or equipment constraints and elevate earlyCost and Resource ManagementManage labor productivity, equipment utilization, and materials to meet budget and schedule targetsSupport field cost tracking, forecasting, and progress reportingReview and approve timesheets, crew allocations, and equipment needsLeadership and CommunicationLead and mentor piping foremen, supervisors, and craft personnelMaintain clear communication with:Construction and project managementEngineering and QA/QC teamsClient and owner representativesProvide regular progress updates and actively participate in coordination meetingsQualifications and Experience Required:10+ years of experience in industrial piping construction5+ years in a superintendent or senior supervisory roleStrong experience with:Chemical process piping systemsCorrosion-resistant materials and chemical serviceHydrometallurgical or refinery-type facilitiesAbility to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, and construction drawingsProven leadership, planning, and problem-solving skillsPreferred:Journeyperson Pipefitter or equivalent trade certificationExperience on battery materials, hydrometallurgy, or chemical refining projectsFamiliarity with commissioning, system turnover, and operational readinessExperience working under EPC or EPCM project structuresCertifications (Asset)First Aid / CPRConfined Space, Hot Work, and Chemical Handling trainingWorking at HeightsWHMIS#J-18808-Ljbffr
