Junior Art Director (Individual or Team) Salary: $50,000-$60,000 annually, depending on experience. About the Role The Junior Art Director is an emerging creative talent at Cossette. A key support to senior teams, they learn the fundamentals of concept development and design craft through osmosis, close mentorship and real project exposure. JADs are expected to be curious, collaborative, and relentlessly eager to learn. They’re developing their eye, their ideas, and their understanding of how creative translates across channels. They must be open to feedback, willing to stretch, and ready to contribute to the creative process with energy and ambition. Key Responsibilities Visual Research & Support: Support Art Directors with visual research, mood boards, image sourcing, and presentations across channels. Start exploring modern visual tools—including generative AI—to experiment with image creation and style exploration for cross‑platform use. Design Execution: Execute basic design tasks, tweak layouts, and prep assets for use across channels—all under guidance. Start mastering design software and creative tools to streamline more repetitive day‑to‑day tasks. Learning & Development: Actively seek feedback, learn new software and techniques, and develop an understanding of visual storytelling in advertising, with a particular focus on how visuals change and resonate across different platforms. Collaboration: Work closely with other junior and senior creatives, contributing ideas and supporting team efforts for integrated campaigns. Presentation Support: Assist in preparing visual materials for internal and client presentations, demonstrating an understanding of how art direction functions across channels. Organization & Accountability: Assist with organizing and maintaining creative files and assets for diverse channels. Take ownership / responsibility for the quality of creative files, decks and overall output. Skills & Qualifications 1 - 3 years of experience in an advertising agency, internship, or related creative field. A portfolio (student and/or professional) demonstrating raw talent, conceptual promise, and a passion for advertising, with an understanding of how ideas can translate across different channels. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant design software. Eagerness to learn, strong work ethic, and a positive, collaborative attitude. Excellent communication skills and ability to take constructive feedback. Curiosity about brands, culture, and human behaviour, and how they interact across different media touchpoints. Openness to learning and experimenting with modern creative tools, including an introductory understanding of generative AI's role in multi‑channel creative production.
