Department & Reporting Department : NAM - Retail Capabilities Reports to : Senior Manager, Retail Analytics Location : North Vancouver, BC Position Overview As an Analytics Engineer, Retail Analytics, you play a pivotal role in sculpting the landscape of business intelligence within our dynamic retail environment. Positioned at the heart of our Retail Capabilities Department, you will be instrumental in crafting, deploying, and refining sophisticated reports and analytics solutions. By directly collaborating with our Senior Manager of Retail Analytics and key partners across FP&A, Operations, and Technology teams, your work will significantly impact our vertical retail division’s performance. Your mission involves seamlessly weaving together data analysis and business strategy, serving as a critical bridge that transforms raw data into actionable insights. Embark on an agile work environment where your retail and industry expertise in finance and workforce planning empowers you to conceptualize, develop, and implement robust reporting frameworks that drive strategic decisions. This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada. Core Responsibilities Designing, developing, and optimizing advanced Power BI semantic models, reports, and dashboards with a strong focus on performance and scalability. Leading data modeling development across Power BI and Databricks, identifying the optimal balance between warehouse‑layer transformations and semantic‑layer logic. Sustaining and enhancing our flagship global retail analytics products in production, ensuring reliability, performance, and usability at scale. Partnering closely with business stakeholders as a technical business analyst, translating complex retail requirements into scalable data solutions. Collaborating cross‑functionally with Data Engineers, Designers, and Analysts to deliver high‑quality, product‑driven analytics experiences. Supporting the Senior Manager of Retail Analytics in developing the roadmap of Retail Capabilities, ensuring alignment with long‑term strategic goals. Building and scaling self‑serve analytics capabilities that empower global retail teams. Future Projects Defining and implementing global KPI standards and semantic modeling frameworks. Advancing toward predictive analytics, advanced modeling, and machine learning initiatives within the retail domain. Driving continuous improvements in performance optimization, data architecture, and analytics engineering best practices. Acting as a technical leader within Agile product squads, shaping the evolution of Retail Insights as a global data product. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, statistics, finance or related field. 5+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or analytics engineering roles. Expert‑level proficiency in Power BI development, including semantic modelling, DAX optimization, and performance tuning. Strong expertise in data modelling and dimensional design. Hands‑on experience working with modern data warehouse technologies; Databricks experience is a strong plus. Proven ability to partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions. Experience working on production‑grade analytics products or enterprise reporting environments. Retail industry experience. Exposure to performance optimisation, advanced analytics, or scalable semantic‑layer design. Comfortable working in Agile, cross‑functional teams with a product mindset. Proactive in identifying root causes of issues and developing solutions. Highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity. Effective balance of autonomy and collaboration. Compensation The salary range for this role is CAD $94,000 - $108,000.
