Geotechnical Engineer Location: Hamilton, Ontario. EXP is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our engineering team in Hamilton, Ontario. Reporting to the Geotechnical Division Manager, the successful candidate will provide technical services to a variety of projects, including field materials testing, geotechnical investigations, and client support. Key Responsibilities Developing and maintaining business relationships with clients. Directing field materials testing services on construction projects, reviewing field reports, and drafting reports. Preparing proposals for material inspection and testing services and geotechnical investigations. Carrying out footing base inspections and troubleshooting construction site issues. Attending project meetings and performing site inspections when technical guidance is required. Collaborating with staff on difficult, complex and unusual matters. Planning and overseeing geotechnical investigations from proposal to final report, including meetings and client correspondence. Coordinating with clients, colleagues, suppliers and third parties to meet project objectives. Working independently with little supervision, depending on the complexity of the assignment. Liaising with clients, contractors, consultants, municipal staff, and other stakeholders. Coaching, mentoring and developing field technicians and EITs. Qualifications and Experience P.Eng. designation from Ontario or ability to obtain within one year is required. Minimum bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering. 4–5 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience, preferably with materials testing. Experience in scheduling or coordination is a strong asset. Ability to develop comprehensive scopes of work that meet client requirements. Ensuring standards and criteria are met and reporting projects on schedule. Managing multiple projects simultaneously. Experience with complex geotechnical investigations and design work is an asset. Strong verbal and written English communication skills. Diplomacy and tact when interacting with staff, clients, consultants, and contractors. Strong organizational and time‑management skills, including multitasking and prioritizing. Strong problem‑solving abilities. Familiarity with standard construction procedures and methodologies. Team‑oriented mindset. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of gINT and AutoCAD is an asset. Valid driver’s licence and vehicle. Salary range: $80k – $110k.
