Job Description The purpose of this position is to provide essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and direction as listed. This position oversees a specific area and acts as a representative ensuring technical accuracy in project execution in all phases. Principal Responsibilities Lead mechanical engineering activities on complex projects, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to codes and standards. Translate global strategic initiatives into project‑level procedures and apply cost‑competitive execution techniques. Develop and review project scope, estimates, schedules, progress reports, and manpower forecasts. Oversee material key quantities, specifications, and design criteria, incorporating health, safety, and environmental considerations. Manage vendor interactions, procurement processes, and technical evaluations. Provide mentorship and supervision to engineering teams. Engage in client relations, cross‑discipline coordination, and promote client service excellence. Support proposal development, change management, and compliance with OSR. Participate in audits, departmental standards development, and external technical organizations. Establish equipment requirements and prepare equipment data sheets for mechanical equipment. Evaluate dimensions, equipment connections, and performance including pressure profiles, heat transfer rates, and off‑design cases. Provide equipment sizing and application support. Support material selection for equipment. Develop and revise equipment lists, narrative specifications, equipment standards, general arrangement, and outline drawings. Participate in supplier/contractor bid clarification, negotiation, and award meetings. Represent mechanical support/advice in model reviews and monitor equipment layout. Provide consultation during fabrication and witness testing of equipment. Provide consultation and/or on‑site assistance for installation, commissioning, and start‑up of equipment. Advanced knowledge of design and specialties including rotating equipment, pressure vessels, unfired and fired heat transfer equipment, packaged equipment, metallurgy, and welding. Basic Job Requirements Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering and at least sixteen years of work‑related experience. Minimum of five years of experience in mining and metals projects. At least five years serving as Lead Engineer on mining and metals projects. Demonstrated competence and proven track record in technical leadership roles. Strong discipline‑specific project execution skills. Experience on revamp (asset) projects. Proficiency in interdisciplinary coordination. Excellent communication skills. Highly self‑driven with ability to complete tasks independently and time‑efficiently. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture. Registration or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC. Other Job Requirements Design experience on mechanical equipment through all stages of a project. Experience with rotating equipment, pressure vessels, unfired and fired heat transfer equipment, and packaged equipment.
