About Myo Palate Myo Palate is a stem cell manufacturing company building the platforms that will produce the next generation of cell based products. Our work spans cultivated meat, real animal protein produced directly from cells, and iPSC based cell therapy platforms with applications in cancer and heart disease. The manufacturing challenges across these programs are shared: scalable, controlled, high quality cell production. Solving them in one domain accelerates all of them. We're a team of scientists and engineers leveraging modern biotechnology to make meat more sustainable, humane, and accessible, while building the foundation for the next generation of cellular therapies. About the Position We are hiring a CFD Simulation Engineer who will own the full computational fluid dynamics workflow for custom bioprocessing equipment and devices. You will take simulation projects from geometry preparation and meshing through solver setup, execution, convergence management, and post-processing, and deliver results that directly inform design and operational decisions. You will work closely with the lead scientist to define simulation objectives, but you will own the methodology, the workflow, and the quality of the output. This is not a support role. You will be responsible for building and improving simulation workflows, selecting appropriate physics models, troubleshooting convergence issues, and translating numerical results into actionable engineering recommendations. The bioprocess application domain will be new to some candidates and that is expected. What matters is strong CFD fundamentals and the ability to apply them rigorously to new problems. The pace is fast, the problems are hard, and the work demands focus and persistence. We are building something that has never been built before and we are looking for people who find that energizing, not exhausting. About You Self-sufficient in setting up, running, and post-processing CFD simulations from start to finish Able to own and continuously improve simulation workflows without close supervision Comfortable working with non-standard and custom geometries that require thoughtful meshing strategies Clear and concise communicator who can present technical results to non-CFD stakeholders Detail-oriented with strong documentation habits and a methodical approach to model validation Driven by a relentless need to solve complex engineering problems and a genuine passion for understanding the physics behind the simulation Qualifications Required Master's or PhD in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related discipline with significant CFD coursework or thesis work; or Bachelor's in the same fields with 3+ years of professional CFD experience Proficiency in ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, or equivalent commercial CFD solver Experience with CAD cleanup, defeaturing, and fluid domain extraction to prepare geometries for simulation Strong 3D meshing skills including experience with unstructured and hybrid meshes for complex geometries Working knowledge of RANS turbulence models (k-ε, k-ω SST) and their appropriate application Experience with transient simulations and iterative convergence management Experience conducting mesh independence studies and solution verification Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, MATLAB) for data extraction, post-processing, and automation Strong documentation and communication skills Preferred Experience with Discrete Phase Modeling (DPM) and Lagrangian particle tracking Experience with multiphase flow simulations (Eulerian-Eulerian, VOF, or coupled approaches) Familiarity with energy dissipation rate (EDR) analysis and mapping volumetric distributions Experience modeling stirred vessels, mixing tanks, bioreactors, or chemical reactors Familiarity with experimental validation methods (PIV, RTD studies) Experience with HPC or cloud-based simulation environments (AWS, Azure) About Your Responsibilities A list of responsibilities is listed here. A more detailed list will be shared after an NDA is in place. Design and execute CFD simulations for custom bioprocessing equipment including bioreactors, mixing devices, and fluid handling components Build, own, and refine the end-to-end simulation workflow: geometry preparation, meshing, solver configuration, execution, and post-processing Select and justify appropriate turbulence models, multiphase approaches, and solver settings for each simulation campaign Develop and execute Lagrangian discrete phase models to characterize particle trajectories, residence times, and local energy dissipation rates Translate simulation results into design recommendations and operational parameters for the biology and engineering teams Conduct mesh independence studies and solution verification to ensure result quality and credibility Document simulation setups, assumptions, and results in a format suitable for internal review and external reporting Support scale-up activities by providing simulation-based predictions for new equipment configurations and operating conditions Collaborate with the lead scientist to define simulation objectives and interpret results in the context of bioprocess requirements Seniority Level Mid-level Industry Manufacturing and Biotechnology Research Employment Type Full-time Job Functions Engineering and Research Skills Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), ANSYS Fluent, Meshing, Turbulence Modeling, Multiphase Flow, Python, MATLAB, Data Analysis, Technical Documentation, and Problem Solving #J-18808-Ljbffr
