Overview As the Director, Design Operations, you provide operational leadership in the execution of the Design strategy through operational excellence. You enable seasonal delivery through the I2C (Innovation to Consumer) processes and optimization of Design processes. You drive efficiency through calendars, process, and cross functional alignment, ensuring timelines and business objectives are met. In partnership with the Product Operations leadership team, you provide guidance and cohesion to cross-functionally optimize a high performing cross functional Design Operations team.This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.Team & Context The Product Operations team optimizes the intersection of product creation processes, supporting cross-functional teams to improve alignment, communication, and ways of working. We build a foundation for excellence through reinforcing business strategy and operational excellence with metrics, infrastructure, business processes, best practices and reporting.ResponsibilitiesDriving operational excellence across Design processes and cross-functional ways of workingEstablishing, owning and driving continuous improvement of Design processes throughout the I2C calendar, including process management and seasonal deliverySetting goals and ensuring deliverables are on time throughout the I2C processesDriving seasonal deliverable execution and expectations while championing a culture of continuous improvementLeading, mentoring and motivating the Design Operations team to enable seasonal executionIdentifying opportunities to mentor team members and grow capabilitySoliciting feedback from cross-functional leadership to identify areas of process improvement, business calendar and team structure needsMonitoring and reporting on team performance metrics to leadershipPartnering with Product Operations leaders to ensure alignment with culture and learning opportunities for team developmentCollaborating with People and Culture (P&C) and supporting Design Operations recruitment and trainingUpholding Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible SourcingFuture focusExpanding how the Design operations team and processes are supported holisticallyQualificationsYou have 10+ years’ experience in a product creation environment (functional and/or operations) within design, development, or production, with 3+ years in a director-level leadership roleComplete understanding of the product lifecycle and experience bringing a product line to lifePerceptive, emotionally intelligent and able to partner cross-functionally with a strong track record of teambuildingInfluential leadership to drive alignment across diverse cross-functional stakeholdersThrives in a fast-growth, entrepreneurial environment and contributes to brand and team evolution through relationships and partnershipsSets a clear vision, aligns the team around objectives and fosters commitmentProven track record in developing and leading multi-year business strategy executionDrives organizational excellence through proactive, solutions-based approachesStrong business acumen to lead in a complex matrix environmentAbility to think strategically and tactically with attention to detailStrong knowledge of Arc’teryx products and apparel processesProactive in identifying root causes and developing solutionsInspires breakthrough thinking and continuous improvementCompensation A reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$149,000 - CAD$186,000 per year at the time of posting. Within the range, pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, education and/or training.
