Role description The MEP Technical Discipline Lead will provide technical oversight and design assurance for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems during the construction phase of the RSSOM contract for the Ontario Line. Working as part of the Design Consultant’s Construction Phase Services (CPS) team, the role supports the contractor, project owner, and key stakeholders by ensuring that installed MEP systems align with the approved design intent, technical specifications, and applicable codes and standards. The MEP Technical Lead will review contractor submissions, provide technical interpretation of design documentation, and support the resolution of engineering issues encountered during construction. The role also supports system integration, testing, and commissioning activities, working closely with multidisciplinary teams including civil, architectural, and rail systems disciplines to ensure coordinated delivery of MEP systems across project facilities and infrastructure. Role accountabilities The MEP Technical Discipline Lead will ensure that construction activities related to MEP systems are carried out in accordance with approved design documents, project specifications, and applicable codes and standards. The role will provide interpretation and clarification of design intent to support construction activities and will review contractor submissions such as shop drawings, technical documentation, and method statements to assure compliance with project requirements. The role will also review and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries, and engineering change proposals related to MEP systems, identifying potential technical risks, deviations, or non-conformances. The MEP Technical Lead will coordinate closely with civil, architectural, and rail systems disciplines to support the resolution of multidisciplinary design and installation conflicts encountered during construction. In addition, the role will provide technical guidance during installation and integration of MEP systems and participate in coordination meetings with the contractor, project teams, and stakeholders. The MEP Technical Lead will also support the review of testing and commissioning plans and assist in resolving technical issues identified during system start‑up and integrated system testing. Qualifications & Experience The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline and will have a minimum of seven years of relevant experience in the design or delivery of MEP systems on large infrastructure, transportation, or complex building projects. Experience supporting construction‑phase engineering services or construction support activities is preferred, particularly within multidisciplinary project environments. Experience working on major infrastructure or transit projects will be considered an asset. The candidate should demonstrate a strong understanding of MEP systems integration, construction processes, and the review of technical documentation and contractor submissions. A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario, or progress toward obtaining licensure, is preferred but not mandatory. Compensation The salary range for this position is $89,000 - $134,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
