Description The Procurement Specialist III is a professional position in the Contracting and Commissioning Oversight (C&CO) with Acute Care Alberta (ACA). This position is responsible for coordinating activities relating to the competitive bidding process, sourcing strategy, negotiations, preparing contract documents, assisting with contract implementation and contract management. The role involves strategic negotiations, managing and administering various types of agreements, developing collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and assessing the needs of AHS to identify emerging issues. It requires a strong working knowledge of healthcare, implementation strategies, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize among multiple initiatives and timelines. As a Procurement Specialist III, you will showcase excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff and external vendors. You will develop new contracts and contract amendments that create value and mitigate risk to ACA, coordinate all activities related to the competitive bidding process including RFx evaluations, prepare contract documents, assist with contract implementations, and manage contracts within the assigned categories in compliance with ACA procurement processes, policies and guidelines. Additional Required Qualifications Proven experience in competitive bidding processes (ideally negotiated Request for Proposals), writing/negotiating contracts, contract management, and both quantitative and qualitative analytics. Strong problem‑solving and business negotiation skills, with the ability to think and act strategically using sound business judgment. Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify key issues and risks, create practical options/recommendations and develop strategic solutions. Experience writing contracts or other equivalent documents. Attention to detail and accuracy is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with the ability to design and format complex documents, including spreadsheets, reports, briefings and contracts. Capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including management, program administrators, clinical staff, vendors, and external partners. Strong emphasis on prioritizing tasks, researching information, and providing fact‑based recommendations. Must be able to work independently and with a group. Preferred Qualifications Public procurement experience in leading competitive processes from initiation of request to final execution of contract. Specific operational experience and knowledge of the delivery of services/products related to facilities maintenance and management within a hospital and/or non‑hospital setting is preferred.
