Description The Global Mobility Specialist is responsible for managing and ensuring compliance for business travelers crossing international borders, with a focus on individual tax, immigration, and social security obligations. This role serves as a subject matter expert, strategic advisor, and operational lead for cross-border mobility activities, supporting employees and internal stakeholders in navigating complex regulatory environments. Key Responsibilities Advising project managers, HR business partners, and employees on deployment planning, cost estimation, and compliance requirements for short-term business travel. Developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and processes related to business traveler populations, aligned with global best practices and regulatory requirements. Partnering with Corporate Tax and Legal teams to assess permanent establishment risks and support mitigation strategies. Monitoring travel patterns, duration of stay, and tax or social security thresholds to proactively identify and address compliance risks. Participating in strategic global mobility initiatives, including support during the bidding process. Overseeing all phases of immigration processes for business travelers, including application review, approvals, and coordination with external service providers. Maintaining current knowledge of Canadian, U.S., and global immigration regulations and processes. Supporting tax filing, tax reconciliation, and social security compliance for business travelers in collaboration with external providers. Coordinating with Tax and Payroll teams to support timely filings, payments, remittances, and shadow payroll requirements where applicable. Advising employees and stakeholders on tax implications, social security coverage, and reporting obligations related to cross-border travel. Preparing regular compliance reports and analytics for management, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement. Supporting accurate maintenance of immigration, tax, and social security data in HRIS systems (e.g., Workday), including implementation of data integrity controls. Conducting periodic audits of business traveler activity and recommending corrective actions when non-compliance is identified. Developing and delivering training and communications to promote awareness and compliance among business travelers and people managers. Maintaining relationships with external advisors, government authorities, and industry networks to ensure up-to-date compliance knowledge. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related field. 5 to 7 years of experience in global mobility, tax, immigration, or related compliance-focused roles. Working knowledge of international tax, immigration, and social security regulations. Proficiency with HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday) and Microsoft Office applications. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
