The Opportunity We are looking for a Director of IT to lead and evolve our technology ecosystem across studios. This role sits at the intersection of creativity and infrastructure, ensuring our teams have fast, reliable, and scalable systems that enable world‑class work. You are not just a systems operator. What You’ll Be Doing Infrastructure & Studio Operations Oversee high-performance storage environments including NAS and SAN systems supporting 4K and 8K workflows Manage networking infrastructure including high‑speed connectivity such as 10GbE and 40GbE Maintain and optimize on‑premise and cloud‑based render farms and workstations across Mac and PC environments Own backup and disaster recovery strategies to protect client assets and intellectual property Ensure studio environments are stable, fast, and production‑ready at all times Strategic Leadership Partner with leadership to define and execute a forward‑looking technology roadmap Align infrastructure with the evolving needs of AI‑driven creative workflows Manage IT budgets including hardware procurement, software licensing, and vendor relationships Evaluate and introduce new technologies that improve efficiency and give the studio a competitive edge Security & Compliance Maintain strong security practices to protect client data and internal systems Lead cybersecurity initiatives including endpoint protection, MFA, and secure file transfers Ensure systems meet industry standards for confidentiality and reliability Team Leadership & Support Lead and mentor a small team of IT specialists and systems engineers Set a high standard for responsive, white‑glove support across the organization Ensure minimal disruption to creative teams, especially during high‑pressure production timelines Build processes that balance speed with stability What You’ll Bring Experience 6+ years in IT, with 3+ years in a leadership role Experience within a creative agency, production company, or VFX environment Technical Expertise Strong knowledge of macOS, Windows, and Linux environments Experience with high-performance storage and networking infrastructure Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP Familiarity with creative tools and workflows including Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, DaVinci Resolve, and 3D tools like Maya or Cinema 4D Experience working with pipeline systems or media asset management platforms Skills Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical guidance Strong problem‑solving mindset with a proactive approach Comfortable operating in fast‑paced, evolving environments Highly organized with strong attention to detail Additional Info Monday – Thursday in office (Fridays are remote optional) Flexible time off, including paid vacation and sick days Consistent culture and team‑building events Employee recognition and incentive programs Seasonal celebrations and gatherings throughout the year Office lunches Branded company swag Access to industry events, learning opportunities, and non-profit outreaches Dog‑friendly offices Unlimited coffee, drinks, and snacks Flex work and travel options Comprehensive extended health benefits 401k matching (US employees only) $100,000 - $120,000 a year Equal Opportunity At Thinkingbox, we’re committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, heard, and empowered to thrive.
