Job Summary Job Title: Clinical Academic Heart Failure/Echocardiography Cardiologist Work Site: Vancouver General Hospital Status: Full-Time Start Date: July 1, 2025 Compensation Type: Fee-for-Service Overview: The Division of Cardiology invites applications from outstanding cardiologists with advanced training in Echocardiography (level III) and advanced Heart Failure wishing to pursue a research‑focused career. This position is primarily based at Vancouver General Hospital in conjunction with a potential clinical role at St. Paul’s Hospital, both UBC‑affiliated teaching hospitals. The successful applicant will be expected to pursue an academically focused career based on a strong publication and research track record, demonstrating the ability to obtain peer‑reviewed grant funding within the early phase of their career. Responsibilities: Provide inpatient and outpatient management of patients with heart failure. Perform all aspects of echocardiography including diagnostic TTE, TEE, stress echo and structural/interventional echocardiography. Allocate half time commitment to heart failure research and academic activities. Engage in teaching and training of trainees, fellows, and students. Support development and growth of the UBC Cardiology research and education programs. This role will also be a clinical faculty position within the Division of Cardiology at the University of British Columbia, with potential appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor or higher, depending on committee determination. Qualifications: Education, Licensing, & Experience: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Mandatory Current Canadian College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) – Full Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) – Mandatory Other Requirements: Certifications in Internal Medicine and Cardiology by RSPSC and eligibility for licensure in British Columbia. Minimum 1 year of accredited training in echocardiography (level III) and 1 year of dedicated training in heart failure. Excellent communication and teaching skills. Demonstrated awareness and knowledge of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) principles. Potential AFC certification in Echocardiography and advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation preferred.
