Reporting to the Production Engineering Lead, the Production Engineer will work closely with field operations staff and the asset team to optimize the production volumes, surface pad operation, reservoir efficiency, equipment reliability, and operating costs. The successful candidate will also be involved in planning and executing base and development capital projects.Responsibilities:Optimize SAGD production and injection through well surveillance and target settingWork closely with field operations staff to trouble shoot well performance issuesCoordinate with multidisciplinary teams to make effective production optimization decisionsDevelop well workover programs and ESP designs for pump replacements or upgradesManage downhole pump performance tracking and reliabilitySupport development execution and well pair start upsIdentify, design, and execute value adding workoversMonitor well pair data quality to ensure accurate instrumentation and testing data is collectedMaintain a strong understanding of developing technology in SAGD wellbore designSupport subsurface requirements for observation well instrumentationQualifications:An Engineering degree and at least 3-5 years of experience in SAGD recovery processField experience in a thermal operation would be considered a strong assetA proven ability to work independently and possess excellent interpersonal and team skillsStrong work ethic, self-motivated, and effective time management skillsStrong knowledge of advanced analytical tools such as PI systems and TableauExperience with ESPs and rod pump artificial lift systemsWorking knowledge of heavy oil treating, steam generation and water treatment process and equipmentExperience with the design, completion and operation of SAGD wells and related pad surface facilitiesExperience with wellbore simulation softwareFamiliarity with P&ID’s, PFD’s, and other process related documentationThe position is based in Calgary, but occasional travel to the field is expectedMember of APEGA or eligible to become a registered professional memberGreat things aren’t done by one person, they’re done by a team.We believe meaningful results come from people with unwavering commitment to integrity, energy, and intelligence – how we show up matters just as much as what we deliver.
