Title: Language Program Coordinator Department: Lil̓wat7úl Cultural Centre Status: Full-time Regular (35 hours per week) Classification: SAT ($46,683.00 to $63,973.00 per year) Reporting to: Lil̓wat7úl Language & Culture Manager Summary of Duties: Under the direction of the Lil̓wat7úl Language & Culture Manager, the Language Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the development, preparation and delivery of language programs, events and activities. This role also involves planning, organizing, and facilitating a variety of projects and programs related to the revival and preservation of Ucwalmícwts language. Key Deliverables and Expectations: Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of language programs, catering to all ages. Create and build upon language resources to support various levels of language proficiency. Assist with inter-departmental requests for translation and transcription of English to Ucwalmícwts. Fostering partnerships with community members, language instructors, and elders to promote language revitalization efforts. Perform other duties as assigned. Language Technology Program: Liaising with the First Peoples Cultural Council (FPCC) on the progress of projects, and website functionality Writing and submitting LTP Applications and Reports including the Budget Worksheet Planning and organizing community-sharing events for projects. FirstVoices: Work with Linguists to collect new words and recordings for the FirstVoices Portal Upload relevant photos and/or illustrations for content including words, phrases, etc. Manage and organize the Archive. DiGi (digitization): Centralize, inventory & archive files for future use and digitization. Digitize & curate formats such as audio cassettes, VHS tapes, etc. Prioritize inventory archiving based on the threat of content being lost. Assist transcriber with technologies and processes used to translate and transcribe files from Ucwalmicwts to English Experience & Attributes: An degree, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge and understanding of the traditions, culture, customs, and language, specific to Lil’wat Nation. Related experience with local cultural knowledge is preferred. Proficiency in reading and writing of Ucwalmícwts is preferred. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate to a diverse audience. Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and time management skills. Ability to meet deadlines prioritizes assignments, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain confidentiality. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and various database systems. Ability to work collaboratively with community members, coworkers, and supervisors. Motivated self-starter and with strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to provide a clear criminal record check, including the vulnerable sector. #J-18808-Ljbffr
