Position Type: Permanent Fulltime Work Schedule: Hybrid (2/3 days onsite) Work Location: Ottawa Role status: Existing Role Based in Ottawa, Ontario the Senior Project Engineer will report to the Manager of Project Engineering and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus around leading the day-to-day activities in the Project Engineering group responsible for executing all cross-disciplined Engineering projects for external and internal customers at Gastops. This role is a combination of both Project Management and System Engineering functions required to deliver highly reliable products for harsh environments in mission critical applications. What You’ll Do: Manage one or more cross-disciplined Engineering projects through all product life-cycle stages Create, manage and maintain detailed project plans driving project team milestones to completion Report on internal and external project reviews, status updates and performance metrics Identify and manage project risks including contingency planning and risk mitigation plans Manage client and system level requirements and their derivation to lower level requirements Ensure the project maintains accurate project documentation Own and manage system level design documentation and issues Identify and resolve technical issues and problems that arise during the project Coordinate and ensure communication across various cross-discipline teams to ensure project goals are met Ensure client project and product requirements compliance throughout the project life-cycle Review and ensure Project Management, System Engineering & Quality project process compliance Support the development of major Project Engineering initiatives, budgets & roadmaps Work closely with the manager of Project Engineering to execute major department initiatives Support the execution of day-to-day activities within the Project Engineering team Mentor junior & intermediate resources on more technically complex and process related tasks and projects Autonomously manage the execution of complex multi-discipline projects with key clients Support the workup, review and approval of project estimates for business unit proposals Please note that this job description is not meant to be an all-inclusive statement of every duty and responsibility that will ever be required of an employee in the job. Who You Are: Skilled Project Manager accustomed to operating under standard key performance indicators (CPI, SPI, etc.) Knowledgeable System Engineer (functions and processes) familiar with cross-disciplined product design Familiar with top-down requirements management (client, system, high level, low level) Savvy Engineer able to deliver robust product designs for manufacturability and reliability Strong and clear communicator able to communicate high level recommendations succinctly Technically capable writer and presenter capable of summarizing Engineering details and analyses Professional experienced with keeping complex projects on time and on budget Poised individual possessing a professional decorum with experience in front of large corporate clients What You Should Bring: The ideal candidate will have an Engineering or equivalent degree with at least 10+ years of combined demonstrated Project Management and System Engineering experience. Additionally, you should have: 7+ years of cross-disciplined Engineering project management experience 7+ years of system Engineering experience 7+ years of design for manufacturability experience 7+ years of full product life-cycle management (cradle to grave) experience 7+ years managing technical and/or resource teams 7+ years of experience in designing high reliability aerospace or other products Extensive experience in designing to international product standards (CE, ROHS, REACH, etc.) Extensive experience in obtaining international product certifications (CSA, UL, ATEX, IECEX, etc.) Possess a Canadian Professional Engineering license or be in the process of obtaining one Complimentary Experience: Airborne HW/SW project management in DO-160/178/254 or equivalent (automotive) environments Safety critical and reliability driven product design Designing and management of safety critical products and/or projects Laser-based spectroscopy or other opto-mechanical techniques and methods Aircraft sensors and systems Particle and wear analysis applications High reliability equipment Condition assessment applications Gas turbine engines Rotating machinery Note on the Engineering Title: To comply with regulations set by the provincial engineering licensing bodies the title of Engineer will only be given to those who are Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Canada. Once licensed, an engineer will be expected to review engineering content produced by the team under their professional capacity.
