Preference will be given to applicants with a driver’s license and vehicle to attend events and transport booth supplies – mileage is paid by the employer Cash handling experience is an asset Duties This position will be responsible for attending and pro‑actively sharing information to tourists and members of the community at events and celebrations. The Community Information Officer will be trained on the wide variety of tourism opportunities available in the area, and solicit opportunities to engage with visitors to the community in various locations, including as a roaming ambassador in busy foot‑traffic locations such as Marine Ave, and near the BC Ferries walk‑off area, or at pop‑up Visitor Service booths. This would include being present at events such as Canada Day and BC Day celebrations, local events such as the Blackberry Street Party, weekly farmers’ markets, and pop‑ups at popular local parks and beaches. The role will involve working on Saturdays and stat holidays over the summer. The Community Information Officer will be responsible for tracking statistics about the people they share information with, and will also be responsible for setting up and taking down the booth display and conducting retail sales on location. Duties will also include taking photos and videos to be shared on our social media accounts.
