Microfluidics Engineer Department: Engineering Employment Type: Full Time Location: Oakville, Ontario HQ Reporting To: David Pena de Sousa Santos Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000 / year Description About You: You're a self-starter that's extremely detail oriented. You're comfortable with assembling and testing microfluidic devices. You want to push microfluidics forward. You're eager to self-inspect, identify issues proactively and fix them. You're energized by well organized and maintained production facilities. You're a strong communicator and team player, ready to coordinate with our cross-functional team to make sure we hit deliverables. You want to put a product on the market that will actually be used by people. What you'll do: Design, develop, model, fabricate, and test innovative microfluidic sample handling systems; Utilizing above microfluidic systems for medical or diagnostics systems (IVD); Transfer methods to other internal or external partners and support the collaboration through timely result analysis; Communicate analytical results to peers and leadership to support decision-making, and collaborate with development teams to support goals and timelines. What you'll need: Masters or Ph.D. degree in Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or a related discipline; 2+ years of industry experience, specifically relating to product development of IVD systems, is preferred; Extensive hands-on experience and a proven track record with microfluidic systems; Intimate knowledge of microfluidics materials and manufacturing processes; Bonus points for: Knowledge of chemistry-based surface modification and related areas; Broad knowledge of material science, immunology, microbiology and other related fields; Proficient with general purpose computation software (Python, etc.) and other data analysis tools. Working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices; Compensation will be determined based on the individual’s demonstrated experience, education, training, relevant certifications or licensure, and other applicable business and organizational factors.
