Human Resources Generalist 3 Month Contract | Potential for Direct Hire Location: Kitchener, ON Schedule: Monday to Friday, roughly 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (some flexibility may be possible) Work Arrangement: 100% on-site Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 annually Start Date: ASAP We are currently seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to support a manufacturing environment on a contract basis , with the potential to be considered for a permanent opportunity. This is a hands-on HR role supporting a busy, fast-paced site. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing day-to-day HR administration, employee support, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, reporting, training coordination, and general HR programs. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will be responsible for: Maintaining employee records, HRIS data, new hire documentation, employee changes, recalls, orientations, and ongoing HR administration. Supporting benefits administration, vacation tracking, retirement programs, eligibility updates, and employee communication. Managing the recruitment process from application through hire, including screening, interviewing, offers, pre-employment requirements, and onboarding. Coordinating new employee orientation and ensuring a smooth employee onboarding experience. Maintaining HR personnel files and records in accordance with applicable employment standards and internal policies. Assisting with employee terminations and related administration. Preparing period-end and ad hoc HR reports, including seniority lists, wage progression tracking, and other employee data as required. Coordinating HR programs such as service recognition, employee engagement initiatives, charity campaigns, Take Your Kids to Work Day, and other site programs. Supporting hourly performance review processes and follow-up. Providing guidance to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and programs. Identifying opportunities to improve HR processes and making recommendations to HR leadership. Coordinating employee training, liaising with vendors, and supporting training delivery when required. Assisting with physical security clearances for new hires and existing employees based on customer, legislative, or regulatory requirements, including ITAR, CGP, security access, and designated official requirements where applicable. What We’re Looking For: 3–5 years of related Human Resources experience. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. A certificate, diploma, degree, or relevant experience in Human Resources Management. Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR policies, and general HR best practices. Experience working with HRIS systems and employee databases. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Strong communication, organizational, and administrative skills. High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once. A high level of confidentiality when working with employees, candidates, and hiring managers. A professional, positive, and customer-service focused approach. The ability to identify problems, communicate solutions, and follow through in a fast-moving environment. We may use AI-supported tools to assist with parts of the recruitment process, such as resume screening, candidate matching, and administrative support.
