About CRWS Canadian Railway Services (CRWS) is a fast-growing engineering firm focused on rolling stock system design, integration, refurbishment, testing, and lifecycle support. We deliver high-quality, technically rigorous solutions that meet regulatory and client requirements across passenger and freight platforms. We operate in a fast-paced, high-urgency rail environment where timelines are non-negotiable and where strong engineers thrive by taking ownership and moving projects forward. Responsiveness, collaboration, disciplined execution, and compliance are essential. What You’ll Do As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, validation, and integration of electrical and control systems for passenger and freight rolling stock and transportation projects. You will work closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams across all phases of the project lifecycle, from concept development and detailed design to manufacturing support, commissioning, in-service troubleshooting, and refurbishment. This role operates in a delivery-driven rail environment where coordination is complex and responsiveness is critical. You will be expected to manage multiple priorities and support sound technical decisions under schedule pressure, without compromising safety, quality, or regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Design and develop electrical systems for rolling stock and transportation equipment. Prepare and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable routing plans, and interface documentation. Specify electrical components, including power distribution, lighting, HVAC controls, signaling, communications systems, and electrical panels. Support system integration with mechanical, structural, industrial design, and systems engineering teams. Support the development of system requirements, interfaces, and performance criteria. Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations (CSA, IEC, IEEE, FRA, AAR, EN, etc.). Support certification, validation, and regulatory submissions. Participate in hazard analyses, FMEAs, and safety assessments. Ensure designs meet client, regulatory, and contractual requirements. Review supplier documentation, component data, and technical submittals. Support manufacturing, installation, and commissioning activities. Participate in testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and validation of vehicles and systems. Participate in factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT). Support the development of verification, validation, and test documentation. Produce and maintain controlled technical documentation. Review and approve drawings, calculations, and technical reports. Support configuration management and version control processes. Contribute to internal SOPs and engineering standards. Support client technical reviews, design workshops, and project meetings. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices. This role requires strong technical fundamentals, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, deadline-driven rail environment. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical engineering, systems engineering, or transportation-related projects. Experience with rolling stock electrical systems or regulated industrial environments is an asset. Familiarity with railway and transportation regulatory environments is an asset. Proficiency with electrical CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent). Knowledge of power distribution, control systems, and low-voltage systems. Knowledge of PLCs, sensors, and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, CAN, Ethernet/IP, etc.). Understanding of EMC/EMI, grounding, and electrical safety systems. Familiarity with testing, validation, and certification processes. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with multiple stakeholders. Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset. How You Work You are structured, detail-oriented, and technically rigorous. You collaborate effectively across disciplines and communicate clearly. You stay effective under time pressure and shifting priorities. You balance engineering best practices with delivery realities. You take ownership of your work and follow through. Working Conditions Full-time (40 hours/week), Monday to Friday. On-site presence at the CRWS Montréal office. Occasional travel and site visits depending on project needs. Flexibility required to meet project deadlines typical of the rail industry. Competitive salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Group insurance and health benefits. RRSP or retirement savings plan. Paid vacation and 10 personal days per year. Professional development and training opportunities. Travel and accommodation expenses covered per company policy. Why Join CRWS Work on complex, real-world electrical and control systems with tangible outcomes. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team committed to technical excellence.
