The Senior Manager, National Construction and Facilities is a key leader within the Design & Construction team, responsible for national construction programs, facilities operations, capital builds, and vendor partnerships across Canada. The role ensures high-quality, efficient delivery of new stores, remodels, and maintenance programs while supporting company growth with predictable, scalable processes. It oversees a diverse retail and corporate portfolio and ensures strong safety, compliance, asset performance, and cost optimization. Provides governance, direction, and escalation support for all construction and facilities projects. Responsibilities Lead end-to-end delivery of new store builds, remodels, and capital projects, including zoning, feasibility, site assessments, and pre-construction planning, while developing scopes, budgets, and timelines to support real estate decisions. Manage construction timelines, budgets, contracts, milestones, and compliance with Canadian codes, fire and life-safety standards, accessibility laws, and technical systems. Oversee national maintenance programs, emergency repairs, preventive maintenance, asset inventories, and procurement of equipment and parts, while managing vendors, service providers, pricing databases, contract frameworks, and cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Operations, and Design. Qualifications The ideal candidate holds post-secondary education in engineering, architecture, construction, facilities, or a related field, with 10+ years of project or facilities management experience. Strong cross-functional collaboration is essential, partnering with Store Operations, Construction, Real Estate, IT, Loss Prevention, Merchandising, Procurement, Finance, and Health & Safety. They bring strong communication skills in English and French, the ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings and work with consultants and trades, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments. Professional designations such as PMP, LEED, or BOMI (RPA/FMA), along with strong financial and vendor-management skills, are considered assets. The role requires initiative, sound judgment, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results across a national retail portfolio, including extensive travel nationally, as required. This role also requires demonstrated leadership experience, including managing construction Project Managers or equivalent technical teams.
