Location: Bedford, Nova Scotia, CA, B4B 1G9 Job Summary The Quality Manager will apply a process management approach to maintain and improve company quality system efficiency and effectiveness. The manager does this within the context of other company goals and within constraints including financial, resource and schedule constraints, aiming to enhance competitiveness and ensure compliance with ISO/AS9100 requirements. This role is based out of our Bedford, NS location and will lead a team of quality professionals. Responsibilities Support the DRS Quality mission statement: “Establish a culture of innovation within DRS Quality teams, championing the deployment of superior processes in lieu of traditional inspection activities and ensuring the delivery of continuously improving value and compliance to our customers and business units.” Provide quality leadership to direct reports, peers and superiors in support of the DRS mission. Staff, train, equip, and direct the activities of quality assurance personnel including quality engineers, inspectors, analysts, and auditors. Identify and justify capital equipment and / or technology improvements. Maintain, execute, and improve the quality management system using departmental and company resources. Review status of the quality management system, developing and implementing actions to improve; report on the results of these actions. Manage all ERP related quality systems / modules using data to drive improvement through disciplined metrics management and team projects. Perform direct coordination with customers and suppliers during early planning phases of development and production programs. Perform functions of Lead Auditor Plan and conduct internal company audits including management of corrective action process. Manage and/or contribute to direct and indirect budgets and department expenses. Develop and review quality assurance cost estimates in support of proposal efforts. May specialize in distinct Quality functions such as Supplier Quality, but ideally will prove competency in all Quality functions. Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission values and culture of the organization. Assist in the development and approval of the Standard Operating procedures (SOP). Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience in a related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of experience. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills. Ability to lead effective corrective action using disciplined problem‑solving methods and statistical analysis. In-depth knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 Standards. Experience within a production environment, preferably with at least five (5) years in high technology electronics.
