Job title: Senior Procurement Engineer – Drive StrategicOverseas Sourcing for World Class Automation Equipment We’re looking for a Senior Procurement Engineer to leadstrategic overseas sourcing and vendor development for our cutting-edgeautomation systems. In this role, you will bring a strong technical foundationto the procurement function — bridging the gap between engineering requirementsand global supply chain execution. You will manage the full internationalprocurement lifecycle, drive supplier performance, and ensure our supply chaindelivers on cost, quality, and delivery. Working cross-functionally withengineering, project management, and quality control, you will help positionPack-Smart Inc. as a world-class competitor in global sourcing. Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 CAD*Requests outside of the salary range is available and determined by interview process*. Strategic Overseas Sourcing and Vendor Development Identify, evaluate, and qualify overseas suppliers and vendors based on cost, quality, technical capability, and delivery performance. Build and maintain long-term strategic relationships with key international suppliers to ensure supply chain resilience and continuity. Conduct ongoing global market research to identify competitive sourcing opportunities, monitor pricing trends, and assess emerging technologies. Perform supplier site visits and audits to evaluate manufacturing capabilities, quality systems, and regulatory compliance. Lead negotiations on pricing, contracts, and performance agreements to secure best-value outcomes for the organization. Develop and maintain vendor performance scorecards to drive accountability across quality, delivery, and service metrics. International Procurement Process Management Oversee the end-to-end purchase order process for overseas suppliers, ensuring accuracy, alignment to project specifications, and timely execution. Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to ensure technical requirements are clearly defined and communicated to suppliers. Identify and implement procurement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle times, and minimize errors. Ensure all international procurement activities adhere to applicable legal, regulatory, and company compliance standards. Cost and Quality Assurance Conduct cost analyses and supplier comparisons to achieve the optimal balance of cost, quality, and delivery. Partner with quality control to ensure overseas-sourced components and products meet engineering specifications and compliance standards. Lead supplier corrective action processes to address and resolve quality or delivery performance issues. Continuously identify and pursue cost optimization opportunities without compromising product quality or supply reliability. Global Logistics Coordination Coordinate inbound and outbound international shipments to ensure on-time delivery from overseas vendors. Proactively identify and resolve shipping delays, customs issues, and compliance risks to maintain supply chain continuity. Optimize freight strategies to reduce costs and transit times while maintaining delivery reliability. Team Collaboration and Leadership Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to align procurement activities with broader engineering and business objectives. Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by sharing expertise, mentoring peers, and championing procurement best practices. Support team performance by contributing to goal setting, process development, and productivity initiatives. Qualifications Post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in procurement, with demonstrated focus on international or overseas sourcing. Strong technical background with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Proven experience in supplier development, vendor negotiation, and supply chain management. Familiarity with international logistics, customs regulations, and import/export compliance requirements. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience conducting cost analyses and supplier evaluations. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to convey technical requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to travel internationally as required.
