As an Intermediate Air Quality Instrumentation Technician, you’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality ambient air monitoring programs that support environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and sustainable development across Alberta and the broader Prairies & North region. You’ll work as part of WSP’s Environmental Management team, taking ownership of complex field monitoring activities, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring instrumentation systems operate reliably and accurately. This role is well suited for a technically strong professional with a solid instrumentation background who thrives in field‑based environments and takes pride in producing defensible environmental data. Your Impact Responsibilities Lead calibration, operation, and maintenance of continuous ambient air monitoring instrumentation to ensure data quality and regulatory compliance Independently deploy, operate, and recover intermittent and passive air sampling equipment across multiple field sites Set up, configure, and maintain continuous air monitoring stations, including analyzers, power systems, telemetry, and data loggers Diagnose and resolve instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical issues, minimizing downtime and protecting data integrity Prepare and review detailed field documentation, calibration records, and maintenance logs, supporting downstream data analysis and reporting The Skills That Set You Apart Diploma or degree in Instrumentation Engineering Technology, Instrumentation & Controls, or a closely related technical discipline Demonstrated experience in air quality or environmental monitoring, with responsibility for instrumentation calibration and troubleshooting Strong working knowledge of ambient air monitoring analyzers, sensors, and data acquisition systems High level of mechanical and technical aptitude, with confidence using diagnostic tools and electronic test equipment Proven ability to work independently in the field, while supporting and guiding junior technicians as needed Why Choose WSP Proudly Canadian – we are a Top 100 Employer in Canada for 2026 A global community of brilliant minds – your next idea, mentor, or opportunity is always within reach Limitless opportunities start here.
