Senior Network Engineer responsibilities include managing and optimizing in-house and cloud-based networks, developing and implementing network security protocols, and troubleshooting network issues. You have extensive experience managing a hybrid network (Azure preferred) that is highly available and fault tolerant. Experience with firewalls is a must. The primary goal of the Senior Network Engineer is to ensure the smooth operation of the network infrastructure to provide maximum performance and availability for the system users. This position is expected to be the subject matter expert and "go to" individual on the team to troubleshoot complex problems nobody else can solve. Our ideal candidate is cool under pressure, an expert problem solver, highly motivated, a team player but also able to work independently, and is someone that is constantly looking for ways to make improvements and isn’t afraid to bring those suggestions forward.ResponsibilitiesDesign and deploy functional networks (LAN, WAN, WLAN)Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancer, VPN, QoS)Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurationsPerform cost estimation and identify mechanisms for cost control and containmentMonitor performance and ensure system availability and reliabilityMonitor system resource utilization, trending and capacity planningWork within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructureSelect and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security teamLiaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolutionsEnsure security and compliance with policies and proceduresProvide technical support and troubleshooting to resolve network related issuesStay updated with the latest trends in networkingDocument and maintain network environment configurations and diagramsProvide assistance and mentoring to other IT team membersQualifications Must Have10+ years of experience as a Network Engineer5+ years of experience in a senior roleDeep understanding of network protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP modelHands‑on experience with monitoring, network diagnostics and network analytics toolsAdvanced troubleshooting skillsExperience with both on‑premises and cloud (Azure preferred) networksExperience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting firewallsExperience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting VPN IPSEC tunnelsProfessional certifications in networkingEffective communication skills (written and verbal)Would be a PlusExperience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting an IPS/IDSExperience with Fortinet network devices and firewallsExperience designing and managing networks to optimize VoIP trafficExperience with F5 BigIP devicesBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant fieldBenefits Home office based with occasional travel to client sites.
