The crew you’ll join Within the CFX team, the CFX Artist will set up and run believable cloth, hair, and fur simulations in Houdini for moving characters and inanimate objects within assigned shot work. What your day will look like? Create and generate cloth and hair simulations and general show‑related effects as required using Houdini. Work with upstream and downstream departments such as Assets, Animation, and Lighting‑Compositing to ensure a high‑quality final look. Take direction from the Leads and Supervisor and apply any adjustments. Meet the quotas within the deadlines. Participate to develop new tools and workflows for productions as required. Troubleshoot and/or flag any technical or artistic issues encountered. Your credits At least 3 years of experience in a similar position working on VFX or Animation. Production experience with Houdini. Familiarity with Ziva or similar technology such as Maya (Ncloth, Nhair). Thorough understanding of simulation techniques and technologies relating to effects and basic understanding of rigging, modelling and geometry deformers. Working knowledge of Arnold or Renderman. Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills. Ability to work well within a team and to solve shot‑specific issues independently. Creation of scripts with VEX and/or Python development of tools is an asset.
