Job Summary:Salas O’Brien Canada is searching for an Intermediate or Senior CET/Structural Engineer to oversee a major construction project in Ottawa, acting as the crucial link between our client, designers and subtrades.From 2026 to 2030, you will be a resident structural site engineer at the new Ottawa Civic Hospital being built in downtown Ottawa. The Ottawa Civic Hospital will be the largest research hospital in Canada. This is a one-of-a-kind project for an engineer to be a part of.You will be the liaison between the site and design engineers to address any technical issues and project delivery to ensure that the schedule, quality and documentation are following design contract documents.In this role, you will:Establish a strong relationship with the client and communicate with both technical and management-level personnelPerform site reviews and construction administration services during the construction phase. Circulate photographs and findings with design team and prepare site reports.Review project plans, requirements, and specifications.Co-ordinates site issues with the company’s design teamsDocument, circulate and coordinate with structural design team any contemplated and implemented changes from other consultants/tradesReviews, circulates and coordinates RFIs with the design teamReviews and coordinates Site Instructions with the design teamConducts project observations during the construction phase and ensures contractor compliance with technical and contractual terms and conditions throughout the construction stageReviews, circulates and coordinates the review of structural shop drawings with the design teamGathers, reviews and circulates with design team all inspection reports prepared by 3 rd inspection parties (geotechnical, concrete testing, steel mill shop reports, etc).Analyzes all structural inspection and testing reports relevant for the close-out of projectsRegularly performs QA/QC ReviewsRequired to have a strong understanding of all contract documents during the construction phaseAttend Construction H&S and coordination meetings.
