Working closely with the Executive Director, theTourism Information Officeris responsible for:Answering questions from tourists, visitors, local residents and other tourism industry colleagues, in person, over the phone, via email or onlineMaking suggestions on downtown shops, restaurants, attractions, and eventsProviding literature and information on places of interest downtownSelling merchandise and downtown dollarsDistributing print advertising material to downtown shops and external visitorsUndertaking general clerical and office dutiesPutting together statistics concerning the number and nature of enquiriesBeing responsible for overall presentation of the downtown core, maintaining clean streets and handling streetscape complaintsParticipating in downtown events and helping market downtown initiatives and promotionsWhat we’re looking for:Experience/post‑secondary education in tourism, event planning, or project managementCreative, adaptable, detail‑oriented, hard‑working, organized and dependableStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenKnowledge/experience using newsletter software, G‑Suite, Canva, social‑media platformsAvailable to work during planned events or some weekends (flexible schedule)Must be able to work effectively without any supervisionMust be able to work full‑time on‑site at 208 King Street in Midland, Ontario and around the downtown Midland areaRequirements and Qualifications:Be between 15–30 years of age at the start of the positionBe a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferredHave a valid SINInternational students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.compensation: Up to $20.00ABOUT DOWNTOWN MIDLAND: Downtown Midland is an association that acts on behalf of its member merchants, restaurants, businesses and landowners, along with the Town of Midland, to ensure that downtown Midland is a safe, vibrant, thriving and prosperous community in the Heart of Georgian Bay.
