Alexa Audio's mission is to deliver reliable and innovative audio experiences that enable customers to seamlessly discover, access, and enjoy their favourite music, podcasts, audiobooks, radio, and ambient soundscapes across all Alexa-enabled devices. We are looking for a Software Development Manager (SDM) to help set the technical vision for the products they own. The leader is expected to guide SDEs through solving ambiguous and complex problems in audio experiences, understand the complexity of audio systems, and collaborate with stakeholders and away teams to deliver phenomenal customer experiences. Key Responsibilities Lead a team delivering Books & Classical Music features, including the customer-facing experience for books on Alexa+ LLM-based experiences Manage the roadmap, propose and align trade-offs to generate optimal value to customers, with timely visibility to all stakeholders including senior leadership Ensure the team operates efficiently, leveraging the latest Generative AI-based tools and cross-platform user experience frameworksDevelop experiences across multiple device types and work closely with senior leaders across Alexa to deliver strategic initiatives Collaborate with product and program management teams Basic Requirements 3+ years of engineering team management experience 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations Experience partnering with product or program management teams Preferred Requirements Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements and describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers Compensation & Benefits Base salary range: CAD $171,400 – $286,200 annually (Vancouver, BC). Total compensation may include sign-on payments and RSUs.
