Salary CAD $32.39 - $32.39 / hour Job Summary We are currently looking to fill a Supervisor, Central Patient Portering position at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, B.C. The Supervisor coordinates the movement of patients, equipment, and materials, supervises staff, and ensures adherence to safety practices. Supervises designated staff by performing duties such as scheduling and coordinating work assignments, assists Manager in conducting performance evaluations and determines related training and orientation requirements. Develops, oversees and updates standards and procedures; ensures safety practices and procedures are adhered to. Authorizes and processes requests such as vacation, LOA, etc.; maintains timekeeping records for staff and submits to Payroll; liaises with Payroll regarding employee inquiries and makes adjustments as required. Reviews work requests and consults with user departments regarding needs and requirements. Ensures equipment such as pagers, radios and cell phones are in good working order. Makes arrangements for repair and/or replacement as necessary. Transports patients, bodies, and various materials between Hospital areas by utilizing mechanical aides, and ensuring patients’ needs are attended to while being transported. Completes documentation regarding length of time to complete patient escort assignment. Completes routine forms such as dispatch logs and stock memos according to established procedures. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications Education and Experience : Grade 12 and three (3) years recent related experience including one year in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Completion of the Basic Life Support Level C certificate. Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal effectively with others.
