Senior Mechanical Engineer (P.Eng.) Job Location: New Liskeard, Northern Ontario Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent Position Overview EXP seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer (P.Eng.) to lead design, analysis, and delivery of mechanical systems for industrial and municipal infrastructure projects, focusing on technical leadership, system design, mentoring, and client engagement. Key Responsibilities Lead mechanical system design and analysis for projects, including HVAC, piping/fluid systems, and industrial machinery and equipment. Perform and approve complex engineering calculations such as heating and cooling loads, fluid dynamics, pressure losses, thermodynamics, and energy analysis. Ensure designs comply with ASME, CSA, NFPA, and applicable local building and mechanical codes. Prepare and review technical documentation including specifications, design briefs, reports, risk assessments, and sequences of operation. Develop scope of work and basis of design, maintaining accuracy through all project phases. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (MEP/FP, Architecture, Civil, Structural). Manage vendor and supplier interactions, reviewing technical submissions and equipment selections. Review, approve, and stamp drawings and specifications; perform QA/QC reviews. Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior engineers and technologists. Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and deliverables using sound risk management. Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and troubleshoot issues during design and construction. Oversee installation, commissioning, and field investigations, providing on‑site technical guidance. Apply advanced mechanical engineering concepts such as psychrometrics, hydronic and air‑side system design, and energy efficiency and performance principles. Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to define requirements and meet project milestones. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, or eligible for licensure. Demonstrated experience in mechanical engineering design for industrial and/or municipal infrastructure projects. Proficiency with mechanical design software: AutoCAD (mandatory); Revit, SolidWorks, simulation/FEA tools (assets); MS Office and MS Project for project management. Experience in preliminary and detailed design for heavy industrial and municipal systems. In-depth knowledge of engineering codes and standards: ASME, CSA, NFPA, local building and mechanical codes. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, able to perform advanced engineering calculations. Proven leadership and mentoring ability, including multidisciplinary coordination. Experience managing project scopes, budgets, schedules, and deliverables. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast‑paced consulting environment. Salary $100,000 – $150,000 per year (total compensation based on experience, credentials, and location).
