Location: Montreal, Quebec Job Overview The Director, Repair Engineering provides front‑line support to Piece Part Repair systems throughout the CFM56 aircraft engine overhaul process by leading the Repair Engineering Team and supporting key repair processes. The role also offers technical support to the Asset Management and Customer Program Management Teams and reports directly to the VP of Piece Part Repair Business. Responsibilities Accountable for departmental budget development and control in line with overall business commitments and corporate objectives. Mentor and develop engineering talent, aligning team skills with business objectives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement; perform associated administrative tasks. Support the Piece Part Repair Cells in their daily operations by expeditiously developing and implementing part repairs through the MRB process. Process Standardization & Automation: Implement standardized repair procedures and explore automation to improve efficiency, reduce variability, and enhance quality control across all processes. Lead Lean Six Sigma and other initiatives to optimize repair processes, minimize waste, and drive performance improvements. Provide hands‑on technical support and troubleshooting assistance. Initiate and participate in quality activities, process and continuous improvement programs. Develop and implement KPIs to ensure the FTAI Aviation Canada operations and financial objectives are achieved. Lead, develop, and support material salvage programs and cost management initiatives. Introduce advanced repair technology, develop repairs and deviations via the DAO organization meeting airworthiness authorities requirements (TCCA, FAA & EASA). Initiate and coordinate First Article testing for engine OEM Source Approved Repairs. Develop and maintain repair standards while establishing rework packages (workscoping). Investigate and provide reports on incidents, malfunctions and deviations from the standard repair processes for FTAI Aviation Canada and its customers. Participate in the evaluation and selection of new equipment and processes. Provide technical liaison with engine OEM and outside repair vendors on repair issues. Provide reports and data analysis as required for FTAI Aviation Canada activity. Qualifications Engineering Degree or equivalent work experience. 5 years minimum management experience or equivalent. 10+ years relevant experience in an aviation/aerospace repair operation. Experience in handling technical aspects of maintenance repairs of aero engines. Proven ability to conduct investigations, prepare technical reports and recommend manual revisions. Sound judgment and initiative. Team player. Ability to work without direct supervision. Assets And Qualifications Experience in handling and troubleshooting aircraft turbine engine repair issues.
