Why this role is important? The Senior Manager, Trade Relations, Generics Portfolio Strategy reports directly to the Director, Trade Relations, Generics. The role is designed to drive and execute the enterprise financial plan by delivering strategies that optimize generic portfolio performance from an in‑stock and value perspective. You will navigate market dynamics and build supplier partnerships that drive stability and growth. The four key aspects of the role include: financial planning and delivery, vendor portfolio relationship development, contract management, and working with the broader pharmacy team to deliver programs that achieve financial growth targets. What You'll Do: Support negotiations with generic pharma partners and ensure performance through regular business reviews. Identify and drive business development opportunities supporting product and partner selection strategy. Track market, policy shifts, and industry trends to inform commercial strategy and decision‑making. Work closely with generic vendors to ensure programs run properly and meet all competitive and regulatory standards. Support enterprise revenue verticals through collaboration with the greater pharmacy team. Closely manage each generic vendor’s portfolio to ensure the company is on track to deliver the plan. Work with internal legal and regulatory directors to ensure programs respect legal and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (e.g., sales, supply chain, finance) to ensure pharmaceutical forecasts reflect market dynamics, product lifecycle stages, and commercial strategies. Provide strategic support for specialty products approaching loss of exclusivity. SUPERVISION/LEADERSHIP This position has no direct reports. EDUCATION University degree in business, science or related field. What You'll Need: Advanced analytical abilities with a strong knowledge of quantitative decision models. Proven ability to lead and work within a team. Proven relationship management skills (both internal and external). Knowledge or prior experience in the Canadian pharmaceutical industry (generic pharma preferred). Ability to manage multiple high‑priority initiatives with a strong sense of urgency. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Detail oriented, diplomatic team player with a proactive results orientation. Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas and actions at all levels of the organization. Self‑starter: initiative and ability to prioritize. Strong professional presence, planning and organizational skills. Deliver results in a high‑pressure environment; set priorities and meet challenging deadlines. Capability to move beyond analytical work to communicate rationale for directives in front‑facing situations at all levels of management, peers and externally when required.
