Job Description The Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role in supporting financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and performance analysis across the organization. This position provides timely, accurate, and insightful financial information to support operational and strategic decision-making. The Senior Financial Analyst acts as a trusted business partner—analyzing financial and operational drivers, identifying trends and risks, and recommending opportunities to improve financial performance, efficiency, and resource utilization. The role also supports continuous improvement of financial processes, reporting tools, and systems. Hours of Work 34 hours/week. Mon - Thurs: 8:00 AM-4:00 PM, Fri: 8:00 AM-3:00 PM. This is a hybrid work-from-home role. Reports to Director, Finance Compensation Hiring salary range: $80,000 to $95,000 per year, depending on skills and experience. Responsibilities Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting Lead and support components of the annual budget, multi‑year financial plans, and periodic forecasts, including operating, staffing, and capital budgets. Coordinate and liaise with department managers and budget owners to support budget development, forecasting accuracy, and alignment with organizational and funder requirements; support department budget owners with a focus on meeting funder's volume targets. Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models to support scenario analysis, volume assumptions, funding impacts, and resource planning. Analyze financial performance against benchmarks and provide actionable insights. Financial & Management Reporting Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal management, senior leadership, the Board, and external stakeholders. Support funder reporting requirements, including quarterly and annual submissions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. Develop and maintain management reporting, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to support operational and financial decision‑making. Translate complex financial and operational data into clear, concise insights and presentations for non‑financial audiences. Business Partnership & Decision Support Act as a finance partner to operational leaders, providing financial guidance, analysis, and interpretation of results, and supporting business cases, program evaluations, investment analysis, and operational improvement initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve financial performance, cost efficiency, and resource allocation while supporting service delivery objectives; partner with Accounting and other internal teams to improve data flows, controls, and reporting accuracy. Respond to ad hoc requests from senior management and department leaders with timely and high‑quality analysis. Month‑End, Systems & Process Improvement Collaborate with Finance team members to ensure accurate and timely month‑end close, including review and analysis of actual results. Assist with maintaining and improving financial systems, ERP tools, and reporting solutions to enhance data integrity and efficiency. Support automation, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives across budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes. Audit & Compliance Support Support internal and external audit preparation, analysis, and required financial adjustments. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, funding agreements, and reporting standards. General Participate in departmental projects and cross‑functional initiatives as assigned. Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a continuous‑improvement mindset. Mentor and collaborate with other financial analysts as required. Risk, Health and Safety Management Identify and report health and safety incidents and concerns in a timely manner to the appropriate supervisors and/or funders. Participate in health and safety processes and procedures and training initiatives on a regular basis. Promote a culture of safety and encouragement of blame‑free reporting. Investigate adverse events by performing a root‑cause analysis and gathering all relevant information. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA designation or enrollment in a CPA program is an asset. Minimum 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, planning, or accounting. Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting principles. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (financial modeling, PivotTables, complex formulas). Proficiency with MS Office applications; experience with ERP and financial reporting systems. Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize large data sets into meaningful insights. Strong business partnering skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills. Highly organized with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. Detail‑oriented, results‑focused, and accountable with strong follow‑through. Flexible, adaptable, and resilient in a changing environment. Demonstrated commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and organizational mission. Experience in healthcare, public sector, or not‑for‑profit environments is an asset. Experience with data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Power BI or similar) is an asset.
