The Controller serves as a key member of the executive leadership team and is responsible for ensuring the financial integrity, sustainability, and performance of Food Island Partnership. As a strategic partner to the CEO and Board, the role provides financial leadership, oversight and insight to support decision-making, funding accountability, and the successful delivery of high-impact initiatives. This role plays a critical function in aligning financial management with organizational strategy, ensuring all programs and activities are executed with strong fiscal discipline, measurable outcomes, and compliance with funder requirements.CORE RESPONSIBILITIESOversight of day-to-day accounting and finance operations, including cash flow for all projects.Preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements, plus year-end reporting.Maintenance and monitoring of all project budgets and forecasts, including:Oversight of financial aspects of the Canada's Food Island Gift Card.Oversight of financial aspects of the Fall Flavours project.Preparation of funding claims for all core activities and projects.Preparation of reports for the Board of Directors, funders, and stakeholders, as needed.Oversight of external audit processes, reporting requirements, and compliance obligations.Oversight of payroll, financial policies, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.Cash flow forecasting and financial planning.Business and financial guidance to the CEO and Board.Possession and safekeeping of all company assets including the official seal of the company.Attend meetings of the Board of Directors and committees quarterly or as directed.Financial diagnosis for clients of Food Island Partnership is required occasionally.A background in Accounting and Finance is required, with a CPA designation or equivalent. Previous experience with funding claims will be considered a beneficial asset.SCHEDULE The work will be performed over five days per week, with four days being on-site and one remote day. This ensures the financial systems, processes, and institutional knowledge already in place remains intact. At various times, the schedule may require shifting for month-end or year-end requirements.TERM Reporting to the CEO on an employment contract starting June 1, 2026.
