Position Title Associate Producer Téléjournal 18:30 (French Services) (On Site) Employment Status Permanent Language Requirements English, French Position Overview Radio-Canada Ottawa-Gatineau is seeking an Associate Producer to join the teams of the Téléjournal 18:30 and Téléjournal Ottawa-Gatineau. If you are passionate about news, have a knack for finding the perfect guest, possess exceptional research skills, and demonstrate strong initiative and sound editorial judgment, this role is for you. We are looking for a creative, rigorous, and efficient candidate who can consistently provide the Téléjournal 18:30 team with relevant guests and story ideas aligned with the program’s mission. We are looking for a team player with solid knowledge of digital research and writing techniques. You will contribute to preparing interviews and story segments, support the production of the program, and help create segments that showcase the show’s content. You may also be assigned to gather and write material for our media platforms. Please note this is a permanent full-time position. During the summer period, you may be assigned to other duties based on operational needs. The role also includes opportunities for regular fill‑ins in directing functions within the same team. Flexibility in working hours is expected. This role requires full-time on-site presence. Key Responsibilities Generate ideas for program content and contribute to achieving editorial objectives. Coordinate the participation of interviewees and collaborators; develop context, introductions, and questions; conduct or oversee research and brief hosts and team members. Maintain and develop contact databases. Support content development, including writing, research, and editing. Prepare interview outlines and ensure alignment with the show’s style and format. Write and publish web content related to the program. Manage and feed social media platforms to promote the show’s content. Leverage social media for information gathering and rapid content publishing (an asset). Participate in evaluating all aspects of production. As needed: select music; produce program elements; book studios, crews, lines, and other technical/production resources on behalf of directors and freelancers. Assign, supervise, and coordinate the work of team members involved in projects under the director’s responsibility. Edit and mix audio and visual elements, or oversee editing and mixing. Review scripts. Provide technical support. Provide digital support by delivering visual and audio excerpts. Your Profile University degree in journalism or equivalent Minimum of four (4) years of relevant journalism experience Experience securing interviews, preparing questions and targeted introductions, and producing recorded segments Ability to demonstrate originality, agility, and creativity in news production across radio, television, and digital platforms; strong writing skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong team spirit Comfortable with the demands of radio, television, and digital news production Strong organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and quickly Ability to solve problems independently and collaboratively (open to new ideas and approaches) Availability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed Strong knowledge and understanding of news related to the Ottawa‑Gatineau region, the Canadian Francophonie, and current affairs in Canada and internationally Excellent command of French, both written and spoken Strong proficiency in English, both spoken and written Excellent writing ability Demonstrated experience in research and/or journalism Solid knowledge of journalistic standards and practices Background Check As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the next step will be asked to complete a background check, including a mandatory criminal record check.
