The Maintenance Manager under the direction of the Director of Field Services is a key leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight, coordination, and continuous improvement of the Municipal District’s facilities, fleet, and asset maintenance programs. This position leads all planning and scheduling activities to ensure reliable, safe, and cost‑effective service delivery across operational areas. The successful candidate is a proven maintenance professional and strong communicator who brings hands‑on technical knowledge, sound judgement, and the ability to build high‑performing teams. This role requires a leader who can balance day‑to‑day operational demands with long‑term asset management planning, ensuring equipment, infrastructure, and facilities are maintained to the highest standards. The Maintenance Manager will work closely with internal departments and external partners to align priorities, resolve challenges, and support organizational goals. Above all, this individual will drive continuous improvement, mentor staff, and strengthen the overall effectiveness and professionalism of the Field Services maintenance function. Specific Accountabilities The Maintenance Manager provides strategic leadership and technical oversight for the planning, operation, and maintenance of all Municipal District facilities, fleet, and assets. This includes ensuring reliable, safe, and cost‑effective service delivery across municipal operations. Key responsibilities include leading fleet maintenance operations and preventative maintenance programs to maximize asset life cycles, reduce downtime, and ensure efficient service delivery. The role oversees facility management for municipal buildings and infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and safety standards. The position is responsible for budget development and financial oversight, including monitoring expenditures, approving maintenance‑related costs, and contributing to long‑term asset management and capital planning. It also involves analyzing asset performance data to support lifecycle planning and replacement strategies. A significant focus is placed on system management and compliance, including oversight of computerized maintenance and fleet management systems, inspection programs, and adherence to legislative, environmental, and safety requirements. The Maintenance Manager coordinates contractors and vendors, ensuring quality control, cost efficiency, and effective service delivery, while also maintaining strong internal and external stakeholder relationships. They provide regular reporting to Council and leadership on operational performance, initiatives, and departmental objectives. This role leads and develops multidisciplinary teams within a municipal environment, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and customer service excellence. In addition, the position supports emergency response, after‑hours operational needs, seasonal maintenance (including snow and ice control), and contributes to strategic planning, capital project development, and continuous improvement initiatives as part of the leadership team. Education and Certifications Red Seal Millwright – Required. Maintenance Management Certification – Asset Asset Management Certification – Asset Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License – Required.
