Insight Global is seeking a Senior Principal Hardware Consultant for a client that wants an individual to join their team with deep expertise in FPGA design and 4G/5G Radio Units . This role focuses on FPGA IP architecture, RTL development, and system-level design for next-generation wireless radio platforms aligned with 3GPP and O-RAN standards . This is a high-impact, senior technical role where you’ll influence long-term product architecture, mentor engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional hardware and software teams. What You’ll Do Architect FPGA IP for 4G/5G Radio Units Contribute to system-level design aligned with 3GPP and O-RAN Alliance specifications Drive design decisions that optimize performance, cost, and scalability Implementation Develop and integrate complex RTL blocks using SystemVerilog (Verilog-focused; no VHDL) Optimize FPGA resource utilization and achieve timing closure Work with Altera (Intel) FPGAs using Quartus Validation & Testing Define and execute FPGA verification plans using UVM Perform simulation, bring-up, and system-level FPGA validation Technical Leadership & Collaboration Act as a technical consultant on critical, high-visibility initiatives Mentor junior engineers and participate in detailed design reviewsPartner closely with Radio Unit, Systems, and Software teams Communicate progress and technical recommendations to senior stakeholders What You’ll Bring Required Qualifications 7+ years of hands‑on FPGA design experience in wireless or high‑speed systems Strong SystemVerilog and RTL development expertise Experience with 4G/5G Radio architectures Deep knowledge of: NR / LTE eCPRI / CPRI PTP AXI and Ethernet protocols (high priority) FPGA tools: Altera Quartus Modeling experience with MATLAB / Simulink Familiarity with UVM and structured verification methodologies Experience using Git/GitHub for version control Nice to Have Experience working on high-volume wireless products Exposure to O-RAN ecosystem initiatives Contributions to standards bodies or technical forums (3GPP, O-RAN) approx. $50/hour+ CAD (depending on years of experience) Contract Long-term contract (1 year+, strong potential for extension) Openings 2 Location Ottawa, ON (Hybrid / Onsite as required) #J-18808-Ljbffr
