This is a senior, client-facing role focused on assessing property damage and business interruption risk across mining and processing operations in Canada and internationally. You’ll work directly with mine operators, brokers, and insurers, conducting site-based risk assessments and producing high-quality insurance risk engineering reports that inform underwriting and risk transfer decisions for some of the world’s most significant mining assets. The Role In this role, you will: Conduct on-site property damage and business interruption risk surveys at mining and processing operations. Assess operational risks, loss scenarios, and the adequacy of risk control and protection systems. Apply strong operational judgement to complex technical and risk scenarios. Prepare clear, well-structured insurance risk engineering reports for underwriters. Present findings to mine management, brokers, and insurers with authority and clarity. Travel within Canada and internationally as required. What We’re Looking For Degree in Mining Engineering (essential). 15+ years of operational mining experience. Strong background in hard rock mining (underground and/or open pit). Coal experience considered where supported by broader operational exposure. Broad understanding of mining and processing operations and asset protection. Experience working directly with owners, operators, or clients in senior technical or operational roles. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex risks clearly. Spanish and/or French language skills preferred (supporting work across Latin America). International experience and insurer-facing exposure highly regarded. Compensation CAD $160,000 – $200,000 base salary, plus benefits.
