Position Profile Human Resources Business PartnerWe currently have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Business Partner to join our Human Resources Team. Reporting into the Director, Employee and Labour Relations, you will act as a strategic partner to the business, providing expert advice and guidance to an assigned client group on a broad range of Human Resources and Labour Relations related issues. This role is a key point of contact for organization leadership to ensure that decision making aligns to Human Resources leading practices and to the Hospital’s strategic goals.Position SummaryEmployment Status:Temporary Full-TimeDuration:up to July 9, 2027 subject to changeHours of Work:Normal hours Monday – Friday. Evenings and weekend work may be required based on operational needs.Location:Humber River Health, Wilson Site with occasional travel to Finch and Church sites as required.Labour Group:Non-UnionSalary Range:$49,919 - $62,438About Our Team The Employee and Labour Relations team manages labour relations within a large, multi-hospital environment, supporting a diverse workforce of roughly 5,000 employees across Humber River Health’s three sites and overseeing six bargaining units and approximately 4,200 unionized employees.Key ResponsibilitiesAct as a trusted advisor to assigned client groups, providing proactive HR planning, workforce strategies, and risk mitigation to support operational goals.Ensure accurate interpretation and application of legislation, policies, procedures, and collective agreements; contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies and programs.Act as a subject matter expert on matters involving workplace violence, workplace discrimination and harassment, accommodation and return-to-work/modified work.Manage complex employee grievance processes, investigations, and dispute resolution.Serve as a liaison with union steward(s) and maintain regular, open and constructive communication.Attend arbitration/mediation meetings and collective bargaining sessions; coordinate meeting preparation, take minutes and track follow‑up deliverables.Conduct investigations, including fact‑finding meetings, preparing interview questions, recommending actions and preparing reports.Analyze data to identify trends and recommend actions to management.Partner on the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs.Develop and deliver training programs for managers to strengthen HR process knowledge and leadership capability.Skills and QualificationsBachelor in HR Management or Labour/Industrial Relations or equivalent experience.Certified Canadian Human Resources Leader (CHRL) certification – an asset.Human Resources Professional Association membership in good standing – preferred.Minimum of five years’ experience in Human Resources, experience in a fast‑paced unionized environment required, healthcare preferred.Alternative Dispute Resolution certificate – an asset.Extensive knowledge of Ontario Employment Standards Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Act, Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Act, Pay Equity Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act.Experience in employment law, employee relationships, grievance handling, recruitment, accommodation/modified work placements, conflict resolution, displacements/terminations.Demonstrated skills in investigation, analysis, coaching, negotiation, consultation, mediation, conflict resolution, critical thinking, prioritization, collaboration, problem solving, analytical, interpersonal, and relationship management.Understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices – an asset.Why Choose Humber River Health Staff, physicians, and volunteers are lighting new ways in healthcare.
