Parks Canada – Jasper, Alberta (Jasper National Park) Position: Water/Wastewater Technical Servicers Officer (EG-04) – Salary: $71,741–$90,184 per year. Closing date: March 18, 2026. Responsibilities Provide technical leadership and operational oversight for potable water, wastewater, pool, and associated facility assets. Supervise and direct EG-02 Water Technician and EG-03 Asset Support Technician for Miette Hot Springs and related infrastructure. Plan, prioritise, assign, and review work related to water treatment, wastewater systems, pool operations, mechanical and building systems. Ensure compliance with Parks Canada guidelines, Alberta Environment & Protected Areas regulations, public health requirements, and applicable codes and standards. Conduct advanced troubleshooting, approve operational adjustments, validate water‑quality data, and provide technical decision‑making during abnormal, emergency, or after‑hours situations. Coordinate and oversee contractors and skilled trades, develop scopes of work, estimates, and schedules. Manage preventive maintenance programmes and verify quality, safety and completeness of work performed. Maintain accurate operational records, inspections and reporting; mentor and train staff; enforce workplace health and safety practices. Support asset lifecycle planning, recapitalisation and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Education: Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience. Occupational certification: Water Treatment Certification – Level 1 (through Alberta Environment & Protected Areas). Valid Alberta Class 5 licence or equivalent. Experience with inspection, reporting and due diligence checks for potable water and wastewater facilities. Experience in self‑directed work/decision making in a team environment. Experience using Microsoft Office/Excel spreadsheets to manage budgets and inventory. Experience implementing safety programmes/equipment and record keeping. Experience supervising staff and setting work/inspection schedules. Knowledge of current methods and practices related to water/wastewater systems and utilities services. Knowledge of preventative maintenance and code compliance. Knowledge of current codes, statutes and regulations related to testing potable water and wastewater. Knowledge of safety regulations with water and wastewater systems. Ability to provide service excellence to internal and/or external clients. Ability to analyse and synthesize information to support sound decision making. Ability to develop, implement, evaluate and adjust plans while ensuring optimal resource use. Ability to manage resources (time, financial, human, physical and information) to achieve planned goals. Problem‑solving skills to troubleshoot and identify problems and solutions. Personal suitability: connects with people, exercises sound judgement, takes responsibility, communicates effectively, makes things happen, dependable. Language requirement: English (essential). Conditions of Employment Reliability Status security clearance required. Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and PPE. Willingness to work and travel in varied terrain, weather conditions and by various means of transportation. Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and holidays. Willingness to complete mandatory training (OHS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, WHMIS). Willingness to gain experience/certifications in water/wastewater systems.
