The City of Medicine Hat has generated its own electricity for more than 110 years, operating a utility defined by grit, independence, and long-term thinking. As Manager, Engineering – Electric Generation , you will lead a small, experienced, hands-on engineering team, working with Operations, Maintenance, and a supportive Director to guide reliability, modernization, and long-term generation strategy. You will help shape a diverse generation fleet that includes modern LM6000 turbines and legacy combined-cycle infrastructure. What You'll Do Lead the Electric Generation Engineering team through coaching, mentorship, and technical guidance. Provide engineering oversight for gas turbines, steam systems, generators, and balance-of-plant equipment, including LM6000 units. Support outage planning, execution, troubleshooting, and post-outage engineering analysis. Drive improvements in reliability, availability, and operational efficiency. Lead engineering input into capital planning, lifecycle strategies, and project management of major plant upgrades. Evaluate legacy and modern assets and help determine how they fit into the City's long-term generation strategy. Own and lead the Plant Management of Change (MOC) process. Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and senior leadership on budgeting, modernization, and long-term planning. What You Bring / Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; a Master's degree is considered an asset. 7+ years of directly related experience in power generation, including gas turbine experience. 5+ years in a supervisory or management capacity. Registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGA, in good standing. PMP designation is considered an asset. Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's Licence. #J-18808-Ljbffr
