PBX is looking for a qualified Design Engineer to work with the Municipal Utilities and Industrial teams and other engineers in delivering projects in Windsor & Southwest Ontario. For more than 28 years we have diligently curated steady growth to build a successful company of over 150 employees.Our extensive, diverse, and award-winning project portfolio includes infrastructure that positively impacts the public and the communities where we all live and work.About the Role Working closely with other engineers, theDesign Engineerwill be a key member of theMunicipal Utilities and Industrialteams, with responsibility for project tasks in the following areas:Perform client liaison and project management to support efficient and effective project deliveryPrepare construction‑related contract documentationProvide constructability reviewsConduct site assessments and equipment condition assessmentsConduct site inspections, construction progress reviews, and field reviewsPrepare, track, review, and manage construction documentation (change orders, site instructions, shop drawings, quality management forms, test plans, requests for information, as‑built drawings, etc.)Oversee contractor quality control and testing activitiesPreparation of calculations and simulations, including voltage drop, protection & coordination, arc flash, grounding, etc.Preparation of design documentation, including drawings, cost estimates, reports, and construction specificationsAssisting with preparation of project proposals and project feesPrepare specifications, reports, technical memos, and other project documentation and deliverablesAttend meetingsPerforming system testing, commissioning, and troubleshootingDevelop softwarePreparation of designs for all types of industrial systems for a variety of industrial facility types including marine ports and terminals, transit facilities, and infrastructure such as bridges and tunnels, etc.Project Management experience managing small to medium size projectsResponsible for producing design documentation and interfacing with clients with high level support from senior engineering staffManage teams and mentor junior staff, as and when directedAssist with business development activities, as and when appropriateTravel to site locations as requiredQualifications Core Qualifications The preferred and required skills of a successful candidate are listed below:Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology program or equivalent from a recognized technical institute.Registered with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as an EIT or P.Eng.At least 5-7 years experience in electrical power design and an engineering consulting environmentStrong oral and written communication skillsEffective interpersonal skillsAbility to effectively deal with a high level of responsibilityAbility to work both independently and collaborativelyProven organizational and time management skillsDemonstrated effective project management experienceExperience managing client relationshipsEagerness to learn and a positive, professional attitudeAble to effectively deal with a high level of responsibility and demanding work scheduleKnowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and Ontario Amendments to the Canadian Electrical CodeStrong computer skills including good working knowledge of the MS Office suiteAbility to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment, where demands and deadlines shift frequentlyA professional demeanorMust be located in Windsor, ONDesirable Qualifications Beyond the core skills, there are particular qualifications that will set you apart. This salary range is provided specifically for compliance to provincial legislation.
